    mappoint P.O.I database

i don't know if there is something like this or not but i have read somewhere about extracting the point of intrest from mappoint... if this could be done do you think anyone could make it so it could be sorted like a directory and then routing could be set up... something like that or even different just it seems like a good source of info that is not being used.

I don't know if it's possible to poll Mappoint's POI other than using the nearby feature (already in RR). In any case, I'd rather have it listed by the distance to the POI than alphabetically.

    Holy Crap:

"The time needed for the application to execute will vary based on the system resources of the machine on which it is being executed. When executed on my Dell Inspiron 7500, it took a little over 30 hours to perform the entire extraction,"

This is not a solution that can provide a fast list of the POI info from mappoint. The Database would have to be created (the 30 hours above), then the lookups would be done on the database. This database has to be nicely organized and will require at least two indexes. This means you'd have to have Database libraries installed and I have said before that I will not do that -- I work with databases, and it ****es me off .. but it doesn't prevent anybody to extract the POI info and make a "consulting" application/plugin to use in the CarPC.. have said that, I can't understand the benefit of having a separate POI database... I (personally) rather stick with the nearby feature of mappoint.

The reason for extraction is so that you can create your own faster database and use the data in other applications.
