Rr Gps Port Setting Help For Mappoint And Map Monkey??

Ok...i have RR. It's works great. I have MapPoint and Map Monkey. They worked great. Now, when I click on MP it fines GPS's and all that, I exit, then click on MM. MM says that the port can't be found, but when I exit out of RR and click on MM it works fine. It's as if Mappoint won't relese that port when I exit it so Map Monkey can use it. I just like to use both, they both have their strong points. I used to be able to switch between them, and now I can't. I have the newest version of RR update. Any ideas? Thanks B

As long as MM is setup propperly (NOT AS AN EXTERNAL APPLICATION), it should work.. RR closes the port, lets MM open it and then monitors the GPS info from MM .. when you close MM, RR opens the port again for use with Mappoint. I use this all the time without problems..

I know, and I did too just like that for 2 months...i did how ever add routis as the external at this time....Hmm....I never use it. I wonder if there is an issue with that Delorme comm usb covert. I think I have the newest. (I am not that software technical)...PS..I love RR...If you haven't been told 100 times..Great job.

Guino...Check this out. So I tell RR the comm port "7" which is the actual port and Mappoint works but Map Monkey doesn't. Then I change the RR comm port to 2 or 6 or 0..just something else and the opposite happens. Also, when I am out of RR and I am in the MM config, I change the port and baud settings to auto. Thats what to leave it on right? When I am in RR and in MM, when it can't find a gps, I go to settings and try to change the comm ports there but it says they are all busy and I know they are not. I just didn't know if there was something else that comes to mind.

You should just BOTH to 7 and it should work.. if it doesn't, I can take a look at it, but I haven't messed with this for the longest time.. I actually just tested it again the other day and it worked.. but I can look again.

It is also possible to leave 0 on RRCOnfig and let MM open the GPS .. then you can still use Mappoint AS LONG AS MM IS RUNNING.
