doesn't RR use media player classic for videos? Works flawless for me out of the box.

And i use the latest winamp, been running it for MONTHS and NEVER had a single issue... but that doesn't mean they dont' exist.

If it was coded to use media player, wouldn't we lose the EQ, pre-amp and other features so awesome in winamp?

Not to mention the TV support is with winamp also, sounds like it would be a HUGE overhaul to use WMP and I just don't see that happening... and I dont' think it's necessary either personally.

I use the latest winamp with no problems here as well. Only thing I would love to have with WMP would be to use it's dynamic playlists.....

i just read the first page of this thread, and someone stated that WMP only rips in wma, and someone corrected him saying that you have to download something else to do it...AFAIK...WMP10 has the option to rip to mp3 just by going into options and changing RIP CD setting to mp3, and you can change the bitrate as well

I do love foobar and use it as my main media player but I'm not sure if the switch over to it would be truly warrented. It does run slightly faster for me and organizes my music much better than any other player but the speed increase is pretty neglible for me, even on my 700mhz p3 in the car. And the organization of music could be done with a well thought out skin. Would I like a switch so that some of the cool plugins for foobar could be used? Sure. But I dont think its worth the work of rewriting chunks of code.

this foobar sounds interesting, but I think Guino already looked in to it, but who knows maybe the newer would appeal to him.

you mean JTFE (jump to file extra). I get it with winamp 5, its just an updated plugin. One that i never understood the purpose of.

itunes would be nice IMHO, esp now it has been updated to include coverflow. Im not sure if this is available on the PC version as well as OSX, but Im guessing it will be... makes a really nice "jukebox" front-end to your media collection using cover art; would think its ideal in that respect for a small monitor system, as theres no text to deal with
