This is implemented from day one of Mappoint support:

-Click Route->Route Planing
-Click Add (Location)
-Click on the Radar Icon, enter the range of locations you wish to see in miles or units you use, say like: 5 ... then hit Enter
-All POIs within 5 miles of your GPS positions should be listed.. you can hit the "search button" and search the list or simply browse through it.. then hit add location to place it on the route planner..

There's no way to select the categories of places to search in RR, so you should select the types of places you wish to view in Mappoint (outside RR) and those are the types that will show in RR.

Not sure how this is setup?

I have a few of the GPS codes working on the menu skin but questions?
1.. Where does RR look for the JPGs for N, S, etc.
2.. On the Indicator Code entry is it just "HEADING"
3.. Is this for Iguidance only?

I'm using the serial port emulator from Delorme and that is working fine.
A small push in the right direction would be helpful.

LS, how did you configure the GPS settings in rrconfig.exe for this to work? I had the heading indicators working fine when I was using mappoint as my gps software, but now I'm using iGuidance. In rrconfig.exe I set:

GPS Mode = external
GPS path = patht to igmod.exe
gpswindow= --iGmod Reloaded--

Any help you can provide is appreciated.

Okay, .... how the hell do I get this feature to work?
Does the option still require mappoint installed?
Cuz in rr.ini, changing gps option to mappoint (skin GPS button made to run routis), but GPSSPD and HEADING aren't show anything.
Any info guys?

Okay, got this to work with iGuidance/iGmod as the GPS solution. In rr.ini I set gpsport=9 and the mappointport=4. Now the heading is dislpayed as before when I was only using mappoint. Port was split using xport3.

Assumimg that I don't have mappoint (which I don't), what do I have to do to rr.ini to have the heading and speed display? Skin file already has GPSSPD and HEADING code in there.

I don't think you need to have mappoint installed. Try just adding the following to your rr.ini:

mappointport=X

With "X" being the com port of your GPS. That should work.
