I didn't mean to bug you, Guino, I'm just trying to figure out what's going on. For me, every album folder does display album art when I select it. That's not the issue.

It may be that I'm just not communicating clearly what I'm trying to do. I have over 1,000 albums in a dozen different genres, all located on my F: drive. The directory structure is F:\genre\artist\album\songs. The jpg file is in with the songs. I can't even begin to remember all of the album titles, so I'm trying to go to album mode and scroll through all of those album covers. If I see one that interests me, I can click it, hit play and it plays. This is easily doable in Centrafuse and as a former CF user I was trying to see if the same thing could be done in RR.

I know it's not a hidden/read-only file issue because (1) my jpgs are not hidden or read-only, and (2) if I navigate to the album folder the art appears. If it's not possible under the current design of RR, that's fine; it's just frustrating that I can't make it work if it's supposed to work.

    Sorry again for the aggravation.

it's supposed to work allright.. specially if it works by normal browsing.. and if it displays the correct album when playing the song... it will work as long as the skin is propperly functional and it is set up correctly..

Thanks, Guino. Now that I know it can be done, I can continue troubleshooting. I just hate to spend hours troubleshooting and then learn that the design doesn't permit what I'm trying to do.

Here's my suggestion. Create another media folder and keep it as simple as possible. For example,

    F:\Media\Album1\folder.jpg
    F:\Media\Album1\song1.mp3
    F:\Media\Album1\song2.mp3

    F:\Media\Album2\folder.jpg
    F:\Media\Album2\song3.mp3
    F:\Media\Album2\song4.mp3

    That's it. No more.

Then have RR point to this Media folder. Fire up the skin, browse, and see if the album cover shows up. If it does, then it's not the skin nor RR but rather something is wrong with your folder setup. If the album cover still doesn't show up, post back here and we'll continue troubleshooting.

Thanks, b8bboi. I have confirmed that it has to do with the length of the path. The following works:

    d:\Genre\Album Title\
    song1.mp3
    song2.mp3
    folder.jpg

    The following does not work:

    d:\Genre\Artist\Album Title\
    song1.mp3
    song2.mp3
    folder.jpg

I have over 25,000 songs, so it's impractical to reorganize my directory structure. Again, as long as I know what the limitations are I can accept them. I just don't want to beat my head against the wall trying to make something work that can't work. By the way, I'm using your skin, which I really like.

interesting... do you have the limit number of characters ? do you use FAT32 or NTFS ? I am positive that there's no limitation in RR regarding the path lenght, so if anything it could very well be either VB or the OS limiting your options. I use the same Genre\Artist\Album and never had an issue -- I do use NTFS though.

I am certain it is not a length of path issue. The issue is where RR looks for the album art.

My path to look for art is:
    c:\documents and settings\George\My documents\My Music

My path to music tracks is:
    c:\documents and settings\George\My documents\My Music\Artists\Albums\tracks

(album art will not show in "browse by album art mode")

If I change my file structure to:
    c:\documents and settings\George\My documents\My Music\Albums\tracks

(album art will show in "browse by album art mode")

My drive is NTFS also. This is a real mystery. I have the same issue as gbh in that if I add the extra directory for the artist, it won't work. Yet Guino's works with the artist in the path. I think gbh is probably right that it has to do not with the length of the path but with where RR is looking for the art. Maybe it's a skin issue. I'm using the b8bboi's Centrafuse skin, but will try it on some others. Guino and gbh, what skins are you using?
