    Resume XM and GPS

    Hi Guys,

I use the BMV2 skin. I am trying to work out how I can get the GPS screen to be shown as the first screen on startup.

Secondly, I would like the XM station that I was listening to last or the MP3 playlist I was listening to last to resume playing. I've done some searching but have managed to find how to do this.

    Thanks

XM will always start at the last station used. RR will always start in AUDIO mode.. but you can force it to start into the XM screen. Starting XM and GPS can be done by adding this as your Start command setting:

    XM||GPS

The main menu still MUST be loaded and you'll see it through the start proccess.. read skin commands.txt to know which commands you can do at startup and/or from any buttons on skins.

Ok, excellent! Thanks for that. I just have to go and test this out in the car!

    Thanks

Ok, I've tried this out. Whilst it works on my desktop PC with XM||GPS, when I tried this on my Car PC that has XM and GPS (Mappoint) the system hung on starting of RR.

I tried with just XM and just GPS. GPS worked ok, but XM caused RR to crash. Therefore it would appear tha it has something to do with XM as a startup command.

    Thanks

Strange I have the same issue. Works great in the house and freezes RR in the car. I tried just XM and I had the same results.....hang (edit...it hangs at the bootup logo).

I tried a number of other commands and it works fine so I'm not sure why it hangs in the car.

As per some info from Guino, it's due to the use of the XM PCR. The PCR is very slow at initializing apparently. A thought crossed my mind earlier and I have not tried it in the car yet. You could do:

GPS|XM|GPS, not sure if that will work.

I'm using XMDirect and not XmPCR although the direct is sometimes slow to startup so I'm probably having the same problem.

I'll run out to the car now and try a couple combinations. I've hung RR a few time though even when booting normally. Once the main menu loads if I quickly hit the XM button it will sometimes hang and the processor jumps to 100%. I need to CTRL-ALT-DELETE it. This tells me that it definitely may be because of the XMDirect lag to startup.

Guino is there a way of maybe checking for this? The hang causes a need to hit the reset button and I think this may be related to the slower start times of the XMDirect not sure if it hangs with the PCR once in a while. The only time I get RR to hang is if I hit that XM button too quickly on startup.

edit....Maybe an option to start in XM mode with a delay of 'x'. x could be made variable and adjusted by the user. So RR would boot into main as normal and there would be an option in the config file to boot in Audio or in XM but a delay box for XM mode is there where x is in seconds. Just throwing out ideas.

I tried MAIN||MAIN||MAIN||MAIN||XM|MAIN and many other combinations to try and put some sort of delay in but it's all a no go. RR will not load and hangs at the logo screen if I have XM in the boot commands. I would like to get my XM playing on bootup as this is my main source for music.

I'll try and test it.. but if you don't have an XMPCR, there's no reason why it shouldn't work...

Thanks Guino. And I don't have a PCR I have the XMDirect yet experiencing what it appears to be the same issue.
