RR is running really slow...

I guess the only way to figure out what's wrong is to make a few test versions... I'll see what I can come up with and post them with the new release..

I can tell you right away that RR only checks/uses the ipod when FIRST going into the Audio Browser.. after which the info should be already cached.

Guino can you make it an option in the config so it doesn't even check for it. My problem is the first time i hit MUSIC is takes 20sec to load,same for XM

No, it was an older version that CDR compiled that he found wasn't as laggy as the original

Did anything ever come of this thread? I recently setup RR on a fresh XP install with no other software other than MPC and Winamp 2.95 and I experience this same slow down. I've tried numerous skins but I get a 2-3 second delay the first time I push a button (audio, dvd, shutdown).

What is your machine setup ? 2-3 second delay may just as well be normal for your kind of setup.. you can add enableclipping=false to RR.INI and see if it helps... but the choice is clear, either a longer first load of each screen or a VERY long start up delay (to load all the images).. plus, I'd recommend you get a copy of MediaCar to install and try it out so you'll have a better perspective of screen loading performances.

actually i would prefer the longer start up delay, like maybe put a user defined limit on how many screens it preloads. Maybe a txt file inside the skin dir with a list of the .skin files to preload as startup.
