    New browsing function

    Guino-

I know i keep bothering you about directory/browsing features, but i think that a few little things would help browsing alot... for me at least. i've already asked you about locking in a directory ex. c:\mp3s. and i think you were going to look into that. that would be much appreciated.

the other is a function that mirrors an xbmc function. i saw someone in another thread asking about an xbmc function called stacking. this is a great feature that merges movie files together ex. movie-cd1.mpg and movie-cd2.mpg into just movie.mpg when it plays them (or just adds them to a playlist). i think this is a great idea.

another xbmc-inspired function that i love is letter-skipping browsing. example:

if when browsing for movie\music etc, and you hit left\right on the joystick, it skips a letter in the alphabet to the first album beginning with the next letter.
    so:

    abba
    |
    |
    bach
    |
    |
    cat stevens
    etc.

and skips the ones in the middle.
i think that'd be a cool function. like
    "skipletter","next"
    "skipletter","previous"
"skipletter","q" <-- to jump directly to a letter. if you wanted to setup a screen full of letters so you can simply jump to each.

the last suggestion i have is to have an option to make the list circular. that way if you're browsing the a's and you reach the top and go up one more, it skips to the z's. dont know how hard that'd be to implement.

either way, great work guino. i can't explain how grateful i am for your great prog... i'd be lost without it.

I see a lot of these questions about browsing directories.
Aren't you guys make any genre folders yourself?
I set up my folders like this:

    Breakbeat
    House - Happy Hardcore
    House - Hardhouse
    House - Oldskool
    House - Overige
    House - Remix
    Nederlandstalig ( <-- dutch music)
    Oldies - Good old times
    Pop - Disco
    Raggae
Rap - RnB - Hip Hop
    Rock Alternative

    So the breakbeat folder contains:

    Bad Company
    Breakbeat - Various Artists
    Breakbeat Mixen
    Dieselboy
    DJ_SS-S-Files_Re-Opened-FORM12115-VINYL-2005-LAME
    Dreazz & Falcon
    Fatboy Slim
    The Freestylers
    The Prodigy
    VA-Cell_Recordings_Vol_1-CELLCDLP001-2CD-2005-LAME
    VA-The_Summer_EP-CIA025-VINYL-2005-LAME

... and so on. This way browsing directories is much easier I think.

not everyone uses the same directory structure. i prefer not to have my music separated by genre, but instead in one large list. just personal preference.

I already had plans for some of those features.. they're in fact very easy to add...
