Web in the backseat is also an interesting concept! wireless keyboard for the kids, w/ gyration mouse or trackball... (or one of those wireless keyboards w/ touchpad in one)

Just need to be careful with focus of the keys and such...

Let us know how it behaves, lag, hibernation, etc,etc... I'm really curious!

I also wonder how RR will behave if it has a 1600x480 skin, and say this device takes a few seconds coming out of hibernation to "enable" the additional desktop
I will, it shoudl come next week...

hey mobitek, I bought one of the vga usb cards too, a little different but similar in function.... been siting around a few weeks haven't had time to play with it yet though, not to mention the other screen isn't even in yet

I see a few of you guys mentioning doing a skin for rr at strange resolutions, I am in desperate need of a skin that's 800X1280..... I need it for one single screen though.... a widescreen turned sideways.....

I have played around with skinning a little but I'm totally lost in this area, how hard would it be to take an existing skin & modify it to fit my screen full screen but not look all streched out..... I'm not even talking dual display zones at this point, or totally reconfiguring to take advantage of the real estate available, but just to get something that works & looks presentable?

anyone here have any thoughts about this..... I'm all ears.... anyone have this ability let me know, maybe we could work something out..... I have fabrication resources available to me at my body shop...... maybe a trade? I'm open to sugestions

I've used the usb vga adapters a few times.

They work really well. Once you set it up, it sets up a second screen in windows xp so you can just drag your applications to the second monitor. Once you've dragged the apps, they will start up in the second screen every time. The second monitor can be a touch screen and that works fine too (tested with 700tsv and 800tsv). You can even output the vga to a vga splitter so that you have multiple 'second' monitors.

It's limitations are in graphics. Its no good for 3d gaming, it pretty much just crashes out. I also had some problems with dvd playback from certain programs, but powerdvd seems to work well enough. Sometimes it just refuses to play certain video files, but I couldn't get enough testing done to figure it out any further than that.

Hibernation is not a problem, however, once in a while the computer resumes and the device is not seen. A simple reboot fixes it right up.

It's VERY power hungry, specially when you're playing video. Make sure you plug it into an externally powered hub, and you shouldn't have any problems.

so cheap now they used to be double that!

thanks bro', don't get too deep without talking to me.....I'm just not getting this whole skinning thing.... I'll see you at the meet

as far as the usb video thingy... my biggest concern is if it's going to display right side up even if my main video is rotated sideways...... with my main display turned sideways it also turns the vga out from the motherboard sideways.... I'm hoping this will be seperate & not affected..... haven't had the time to play though
