wouldnt the only thing needed for dual support is a skin made for dual monitors?
I read about a concept that was devised using a "dual-monitor" skin (ie., instead of running at 800x600 it would be designed as 1600x600 or 800x1200 but I never saw anything more about it. In theory it would work but one of the things that would become an issue is the fact that some elements can only be shown once per screen such as the VISU and video window. Guino would have to add support to be able to show these elements more than once on a given screen. This is pretty much what stopped me from looking more into a double sized skin.Originally Posted by liquid_smoke

A double skin is cool, but limitations as you said exist... I explored this issue a while back, and the main problem isnt even that the "element" can only be displayed once. Worse than this, Visu, GPS, etc are EXTERNAL APPS....they arent just an image displayed or a stream played... It is practically impossible to reproduce them/run them twice in a "slave" state (most programs dont have this functionality)...
One possible, inefficient, workaround would be "screen cloning" a part of the screen onto another part (further off the main monitor, on the "extended" skin area)...
Some things like GPS in fron, Video in back should be possible sooner though, when Aranthrarnar releases his mods. Video in back control in front, Music name in back, stats in back, etc, already work, but the problem is with "apps"... (GPS in front with menu, GPS in back fullscreen, for example is where the problems lie)

Any ideas for putting a PC in this? :)
All very interesting points, but I think the thing that everyone is missing is the hardware alternatives. You can pick up a VGA splitter adapter for a $1.00 and I have seen 7" Non touch VGA screens for as low as $108.00 on ebay. Then just simply connect all of your monitors to your computer and every monitor will display the same thing.
Here is another alternative hardware configuration, for those of us who have an open pci slot, just add a 2nd video card. Windows XP supports multiple video cards and multiple display configurations. With 2 video cards, it makes the primary screen function normally one the primary agp video card, but if you move the mouse to the right, you will see the pointer appear on the next monitor as it dissappears from the first monitor on the pci video card. This will enable the user to place what they want and on which monitor.
Here is a third hardware alternative; Some of the higher end video cards come with a combination VGA and RCA/S-Video port that can be enabled at the same time, so you can display VGA video to a nice touch screen or your preferrence then show the same display on your standard less expensive lcd monitors.
I am currently working on this on my next version of Mobile Impact on the DVD player module, where upon clicking a button, it moves the playing movie to the 2nd screen, then if you hit the button again, it will return to the first screen. This is for an application like a limousine or minivan or something where you can set the movie to play on the back screen for your guests or kids.
So really if you think about it, this covers pretty much every aspect of doing multiple screens, where there really is very little coding required.

I'm just going for a xbox to the rear screen :-), but I will be playing with extra large skins soon now I have a card that supports dual monitors..
