Just installed RR (from the alternate download site) and have had MP04 on my development machine for quite sometime.
I'm using the Liquid smoke 3.0 skin. It won't launch MP. I've downloaded another skin and have got mappoint to launch as an external app but not as mappoint mode in RR.
What gives ??
P.S. I know the ocx is installed and registered in the system, because I can access the control within another custom app. The app isn't running at the same time RR is trying to use the control... It's simply not working! I can't try another skin because the RR website is down... grrr
any suggestions ?

check/delete *.ptm on RR's folder... if you don't get any errors, do the controls show over the desktop (no background map) or do you see the background all black ?
I'm assuming that uninstall/reinstall of mappoint should fix it.. but you should try:
regsvr32 mappoint.ocx

Hi, I'm just getting started. I've got the June 3, 2006 release of the Road Runner binary and I've just installed Map Point 2004 North America. I do not have a GPS yet, but I saw on another thread that you can run mappoint before connecting a GPS. I've already run regsvr32 mappoint.ocx
However, I'm seeing the same problem mentioned above. When I select GPS, I only see the controls over the desktop (no background map). What am I doing wrong?
the latest version of RR was compiled with mappoint 06.. I have to compile it with 04 .. but I'm currently testing new features.

I compiled it on my machine where I have Mappoint 2004 installed, and now the map appears. Thanks Guino.
Care to share that EXE ? there's a few people wanting this.. I'm going to try and do some testing with 06 today before I have to uninstall it and then install 04 back in the computer.
