Another thing I noticed is volume control through RR is no longer possible. If I change it up or down SSV changes it back to its setting. I originally didnt think this would be a problem (see my first post) but it is. And I could envision those without a head unit not being happy at all.

I guess what I'm saying is using SETVOL is not quite the best method.

I use IG for my map and set RR config for mappoint on com 4 them start my IG like this in my ExecTBL.ini

    "GPS","LOAD;EXTERNAL_GPS_ig.skin;Navigation;C:\Pro gram Files\iNav\iGuidance\iGuidance.exe;iGuidance"

If I need to change the vol I just turn off the SSV

I Think SSV is grate if it would work in all the skins

Not only that but I already modded all my skins for it

I just wrote an app, my first carpc app actually(q cheerleaders) for using joystick as a mouse, but it also reduces volume to 30% when a button on my joypad is held in, I plan to wire the joystick button via a realy to the dome light.

when the light goes out the volume comes back up, provided its not been adjusted while the door was open, if so then it leaves it alone and uses that as the new volume next time.

It would not be too hard to adapt the app to take the speed from the gps data stream and reduce volume according to settings in an ini file, say 25 user defined settings for every 5mph upto 125.

that way it would be a windows app, and would control everything etc so would work with all front ends/mp3 players etc.

Today I tried out the old three-file set up and the new one and in my opinion the new fixed is the way to go. With the old ones if you start switching skins and other stuff it gets mixed up and you end up with a high or low vol. With new one (if it would work in all skins) if it gets mixed up it would at least get back on track by itself without fiddling with the volume control.

I set it up to use the master volume and if you need to fine adjust it I just change the wave, line, aux or mechanical volume control.

And with people without mechanical volume control could setup there skins volume with wave, line or aux volume.

Maybe you could have the SSV.swf file write to the SSV.txt file to tell it if it is on or off and have a second SSVSkin.SWF that would only read that SSV.txt file and control the volume and put the SSVSkin.SWF in all skins.

After using this I think it is a must have

    Thanks DiNASTY

Now that's PHP stuff... I could probably use the CUSTOMLABELs in RR to do something like that. The initial idea was to put SSV on one skin and GPSSPD labels on every skin, but from the comments thus far I take it that doesn't work.
