I’m telling you are one fast person – you can update and post faster then I can type a post.

    Working like a champ now

So I will install in my truck now and get back – knowing you, probably have 10 updates by then.

I suggest you backup your RR.exe, RR.ini and RRConfig.exe. Replace your RR.exe and RRConfig.exe with the two files in the zip file which can be downloaded from my website: http://carpc.harteveldt.com

Run RRConfig.exe and configure the Automatic Speed Attenuation section. BTW, you'll need your GPS configured in the GPS section too.

Run RR and go for a drive... let me know...

BTW, as I've not managed to get the latest source code of Guino, this is built on the previous verison (10-16-05). Assuming all is good, I shall get this merged into the next release.

    Thanks

    Andrew

Does this require GPSSPD be in every skin or just RR setup to intercept NMEA data?

Ok it works very good and smooth

The only problem now is the 70mph setting

Where ever I set it always goes to 100 @ 80mph

The only other thing I think would be an improvement to have an off command so when you want to crank the volume up when you are parked or setting still.

Chuck: I'm not quite sure what you mean about the problem with the 70 mph setting.

If you don't want it to be 100% at 70 MPH then change the setting in RR Config (e.g. set the 70 MPH setting to 90%), then at 80 MPH it would be less than 100%.

I'll take a look at adding the command to disable / override at runtime.

Has anyone else been able to test?

Maybe I'm thinking of this in the wrong way. I started thinking about adding the enable / disable button but thought for a minute. "CArs don't have this do they though..."

So I then thought about how this functionality works today in cars. Rather than deciding the ultimate volume level at set speeds, maybe I should be deciding the how much to increase or decrease the 'current' level by (using accelleration value).

    For example:

Let's say that you are parked and you want to crank up your volume, so problem... go ahead and set it to 90%, Speed is 0 so I won't change it. Now let's say you get in the car and adjust the volume to 60% and then drive off.

You drive off and your speed is constant... your acceleration is 0 and thus the volume would remain at a certain level. When you accelerate your volume would go up at a certain rate (TBD on how to calculate the rate). When you slow down your acceleration would be negative and thus we could decrease the volume at the same rate. Therefore the derrived volume would be relative to the acceleration and the initial value, not pretermined values.

    How does that sound?

Ok, I've changed the code now so that each second it calculates the acceleration. From this it then adjusts the volume.

The volume is adjusted based on the rate derrived from the values put into RRConfig.

I could probably make a better way of configuring / determining the rate of increase / decrease. Any ideas? Also, any thoughts on the preferred solution?

It did not make any difference what I set the 70mph to in the config file it would not change anything.

The way it set volume up and down was good to me I just could not set the top end.

My truck head unit has SCV and it has 3 setting and an off

In my opinion I would setup the mute button press 1 mute, press 2 standard volume, press 3 Mute, press 4 SCV volume and this would not change the skin in any way and could be done with switch button in RR

    Add command SCVoff, SCVon

    The button
“Mute||SWITCHBUTTON;1>>Mute||SCVoff||Master;70||SW ITCHBUTTON;1>>Mute||SWITCHBUTTON;1>>Mute||SCVon||S WITCHBUTTON;1” and maybe add some labels in there.

Anyway this is good stuff and I will try your update now
