Dazzle USB video capture for backup cam...

I took a chance and bought the cheapo dazzle video capture USB device on ebay so that I could integrate my RV backup cam into Road Runner rather than having to cycle through Lilliput's inputs to get to the composite video input.

Took a few minutes to setup, but following the FAQ in the RR sticky about video capture, it worked like a charm.

I am using the Liquid Smoke Skin, so I edited the skin to display a bigger window, not having to worry about changing channels on a TV input.

    It really works well.

I am using the Audiovox rearview camera that was already in my RV. I replaced the rearview monitor with the Lilliput 8" LCD. The cool thing was that the cam itself is already mirrored!

so how do you trigger it, do you have to press button manually in order to get to the reverse camera screen. Or it's done automatic?

Currently I have the video displaying two ways. First through the Lilliput composite video input. To display it, I must cycle through the inputs on the Lilliput. However, on this forum there is a link to a circuit that can automatically flip it to that input when I shift into R. I already have a wire that was used in my RV Audiovox that is connected to the transmission some how.

However, I much prefer displaying the rear cam embedded in RR. Once I find a Cam app other than Winamp (so I can continue playing MP3s while also viewing the rear cam), I might try to find a solution to auto switching to the rear cam screen in RR when I shift into R. Is this possible?

Their is a program called "frodocam" in the frodoplayer section .You can use this one instead of winamp.

Auto-switching screens is not possible yet in RR. Some time in the future, Guino will eventually add this.
The road is long but we are getting there.

This is really a great idea. It might be a great solution for anyone without rca vid in on their monitor or without auto vid source switching.

i am curious about the difference in picture quality - How does the captured image displayed through RR compare to the image through the composite inputs?

No quality loss. Looks fantastic. Ultimately I may have a skin page with both the iGuidance screen and the backup cam side by side, or the back up cam in a smaller window. In the RV I just like to be able to glance down to see that my Land Rover is still there on the trailer behind me! Then when backing, I would go larger screen to see what I am doing, etc.

Really, just viewing the cam with the Lilliput input is nice, but it is much "cooler" in RR.
