The only solution I have found is to change the file structure(which I haven't bothered to do. I have become tied up with other projects and real life).

    I use c:/.../my music/artist/album/track.

I put the line in the skin I use (MC2.0) to look for album art in c:/.../my music

The album art shows fine for some of the odd tracks that I have - the track location would be c:/.../my music/artist/track where I put album art in the artist folder.

So, it appears to me that RR just looks in the next sub folder for the art instead of inside the album folder. So although it displays the album name it looks for the art in the folder below my music which is on the path to the album. You could get the album art to show by changing your file structure to something like c:/.../my music/album/track.

I have never used centrafuse but it would be interesting to know why the album art worked for you there and not in RR. Does CF find the Album and then look inside that folder for the album art?

You might want to ask Guino if he can change the way RR looks for album art. or maybe we are just missing something.

If I come up with a better solution when I get the opportunity to play around with it again I will be sure to let you know.

    Good Luck!

    gbh,

I agree that it seems that RR only wants to go down one level to look for the art.

You may want to visit this thread. I asked Guino the question about the directory structure and he didn't reply; I know he's got a lot going on.

Centrafuse handles album art browsing beautifully. I'm using the same directory structure as you and when I go to album view it lets me scroll through my 1500 album covers. Centrafuse makes you name every cover "Folder.jpg", so I'm sure David has just written some code looking for that file anywhere in the path. IF RR had the same clean browsing and searching features that Centrafuse does, RR would be a no-brainer. Unfortunately, I don't have any coding ability so can't implement these features myself.

Do some songs have the album art embedded in the mp3 file itself? In Centrafuse, I see album art for songs that don't have .jpg (or any other format) files associated with them. If this is the case, maybe the request to Guino or Skippy should be the ability to use them. Album art is really frustrating in RR.

Are you sure they are not just hidden still?

As far as I know there is no way to embed the images into the mp3 itself.

All of the stuff I have bought from iTunes is just a hidden jpg in the folder.

I don't see where this is part of the ID tagging?

Ok, maybe I didn't figure out how they were doing it. I was using tag&rename a lot over the weekend and it showed the jpg when I was re-tagging so that's probably why I thought that. t&r has an option to "remove" the picture from the tagging, which I was using extensively.

I use iTunes on my mac for my main music organizing machine. When I put album art in through iTunes, I'm pretty postive it embeds the .jpg file into the Tag. The only way I've verified this, is by going into my iTunes music directory, and looking in the folders, and I havent seen any image files.

Now, when I'm loading up music on my carPC, I copy everything over manually from the mac over the network. I'm running windows on my carPC, and I don't see any album art in 'thumbnail' view in regualr windows explorer.

What I do after that is put the alburm art in manually from Amazon.com. I rename .jpg's to 'folder.jpg'. All works well in Windows explorer.

However, I am having the smae problem as you guys in 'album' mode. I'm using the CFX skin if it matters. I've narrowed it down to RR's lack of looking more than two folders deep.

My music is orgainzed like this.. d:\music\Artist\album , in that way, album mode doenst work. I copied all of the albums out of the 'artist' directorys, and put them in a folder called 'albums' and pointed RR to d:\music\albums\ as my default music directory. Album art browse mode worked great!

Anyone else tried this that can verify it? It seems like if this is the problem, it should be an easy fix?

Sorta on the same note. I just noticed the other day that my PSP displays album art from mp3's. I only have a 32 meg card for it right now but i put 3 acdc songs on it and all of them had album art showing. It would be great to get RR to incorporate this feature if posible. Guino It must add to the file size. But on a 4 meg mp3 a small jpg or bmp would only add a couple thousand bytes. Would be nice if there was a program that could add the image to the mp3 incase you dont have one already embeded.
