The ID3v2 format allows pictures to be embedded, and this works well for most modern PC based players. Great I thought, but then I found that most portable players aren't so keen... My MPM-201 was one of them, in spite of supporting Xvid playback and jpeg viewing. So if you use a portable device as well, I suggest you do a test run before updating all your mp3s with album art.

That would make it easy to display the album art. I have songs in my 4000+ songs and some of them are not linked to a folder with a Folder.jpg
I tryed that with a winamp plugin like ID3V2 Picture box and it shows every album art from the Mp3 but a pain in the bu.. to embed. It would be great if Guino can make it happen to read the album art part of a Mp3.
By the way here is the file structure of a Mp3 file.

So have we narrowed it down to a file structure issue?

    c:\music\albums works
    c:\music\artist\alubm doesnt work

    Anyone else try that?

Yeah I can vouch for this,

    I use C:\...My Music\Artist\Album

The album art will not show

But when there is only one Album for the artist I use

    C:\... My Music\Artist

and put the album art directly in the artist folder the album art shows no problem.

So what happens is I get a mix of folders showing and album art

Well, think about it. In RR Config your Music Path is C:\Music\
When you browse it goes to C:\Music and lists all folders under that directory.
If you have no Folder.jpg in those folders it will not show them. I have two different browser skins, one for browsing the C:\Music directory where I have a Folder.jpg in every folder. Now when I select a folder and click Info it browses to the sub folders and shows all albums under that artist with album art. Not a nice way to do it but it works.

Guino has reported that he uses the structure d:\genre\artist\album and it works fine. I use that same structure yet I have the same problem as described in post 35. I am using the CFX skin. I'm wondering if it's an issue with the skin rather than RR. Is anyone having the same problem but with a different skin?

It seems the people, myself included, that are having the problem are organizing by c:\music\artist\album , or an offshoot of that structure.

I'll try it in c:\music\genere\artist\album and see if that gets it working.

This is silly - we shouldn't have to rearrange our entire music collection's album art to accomodate RR, it should be the other way around - there are clearly (and unfortunately) many ways to have album art (folder.jpg, embedded in the song, etc.) and the app should handle them. Maybe when the next round of changes gets considered, Guino or Skippy will add something to handle these scenarios.

I'd rather spend time reorganising my songs rather than Guino and co spend hours covering every album art scenario .... its a waste of their time!
