Would it be possible for someone that is in the know who could download the software and emulate what i am trying to do with RR and maybe get lucky?
Its only a really small download and i would really appreciate the help as i have tried everything i know to get it to work correctly.

There is no installer, just unzip the program and place it into a folder and it will load up in demo mode and then if you could setup the program to auto start up "in car dashboard" options/Auto Startup Window/ In Car Dashboard then exit the program and now each time the program loads up you will have various ECU displays like revs, boost etc.
If someone could then get the details from windows spy and see if you can get it to embbed i would truly appreciate the help.
Ideally the absolute best would be a custom skin mapping the keys F2 to F8 for the various modes (Dyno Run, diagnostics, ignition retard) etc but for now i would like to see it working in road Runner before i give a dedicated skin a try.

If someone could help me out here i would truly appreciate it and if there is one wish from Santa round about now this would be it.

Wish I could help, but I can't. I do have to mention how far the EcuTEK software has come. Makes me wish I still had my WRX. :'(

I noticed your username... ECUTEK is pretty much the daddy over here in the UK for what they do and they are big players...

Wiredwrx, you don't need to have a carputer or a scooby to try out my dilema above.
If you download the software and run it on a home pc it just runs in a demo mode and pretends its connected to the ECU of a Subaru.
Then all what else is needed is someone in the know with Road Runner installed on there desktop pc to try to embed this program.

Ya. I had a reflash done on my MY02 WRX, but at the time, the EcuTEK SW was not available like it is now. I miss those days.

There are many more educated RR people out there, I am hopefull someone will pop on and give you a hand. Also, I am at work now, and downloading is a BIG NO NO.

Not all programs can be embedded, some programs really fight hard against any kind of window manipulation by other applications .. COPILOT if known for that. and any application that wants to run full screen is most likely to do it as well..

I dont know about the full blown program, but with demo version Winspector shows ClassName as "SysListView32" and window as "FolderView". Try either or both of these. Also have you tried to use the launch folder? My obd2 program works well from there. It may be as Guino says as I also have had problems with some apps. Good Luck.

I tried both of them PCBum but no joy, you mention them together however so how could i do that?

Try out skinbedder. IIRC it is designed to embed windows. Maybe i'll work with this.

Also does it have any bearing whether this app i am trying to embed is highly skinable? Could altering some settings in the app's skin settings make it work in RR?
