    Change ID3 Tag display from audio player?

    I finally got winamp setup correctly and my audio player skin to sort the playlist by artist or title. Now I'd like to be able to change the display. When it's in order by title I'd like to display %title% - %artist%. And when it's in order by artist I'd like to display %artist% - %title%. There are also some playlists I have where I'd like to maintain and display the track order. Only one thing is missing: Is there a way to change the ID3 tag display from the audio player skin or can it only be done from the config program?

    Go to the text file that is associated with the particular screen your trying to change it on and look for the line that looks similiar to this (may not be exactly the same)...

    L10,180,19,435,40,0,0,0,20,"Arial:B","=||TAGTRACKN UMBER||= / ||TAGTITLE","SCROLL-CENTER"

    ...and change your settings accordingly. Roadrunner has a "skin commands" file in the RR root directory if you need help with the associated tags.

    Thanks, O, but the L... command line is for the label describing the currently playing track. I want to modify the list of songs in the "Directory" which is defined with an "S" line like this:
    S01,334,62,457,485, 255,255,255, 000,000,000, 000,255,000, 000,000,210, 255,255,255, TRUE,20,"ARIAL NARROW:B"

    As far as I can tell, rrconfig is the only place to set it. It'd be nice to be able to define it in the skin and even better if it could be changed with a SWITCHBUTTON command or something like that.

    Im no pro at this, just know a few things from playing with RR but if that is indeed the line that controls your playlist in your skin then use the same syntax as I posted above and add the "=||TAGTRACKNUMBER||= / ||TAGTITLE","SCROLL-CENTER" to the end of your line.

    I changed things to my liking by changing one thing at a time then saving it in the .txt file or RR Skin Editor and going back to check the results in RR. If I didnt see anything or didnt like it then I undid the changes and changed one other thing. One way of getting it done if you dont know what your doing. :P

    I added the string you described to my "S" line and nothing displayed at all. Look at the examples below. I'm able to change the yellow line on the top which is the "L" line you referred to in post 2. What I want to change is the order in the track listing (defined by an "S" line in the skin file). The first example below is sorted by artist - title and all is well. Then I click on a button to change the order to title - artist and I'm able to change the yellow screen label, but I can't change the lines in the listing to display title - artist. That's what I want to have changed.

    Guino, ya there?

    Currently there's no way to change the PLAYLIST display format, that is, without setting it up in RRConfig.. once RR loads, this is a "hardcoded" setting -- mainly because it has to do with the way RR loads the titles from the files.

    THANK YOU GUINO!!!
    Version 03-3-06 added this function with the PLFORMAT function.

    Here's what I have (all on one line):
    B,78,347,82,86,"ACTIVATE;Playlist Editor||SENDKEY;^+1||PLFORMAT;%TITLE%||RELOADLIST| |SWITCHBUTTON;5>>ACTIVATE;Playlist Editor||SENDKEY;^+2||PLFORMAT;%ARTIST% - %TITLE%||RELOADLIST||SWITCHBUTTON;5",""

    I setup Winamp|preferences|title| to just %title% and now the sort toggles between just the title and the filename (which is artist-title format) and this command works perfectly.

    The only problem I have is that if I quit RR with the sort order set to %title%, when Winamp starts up again, it's out of sync. Winamp remembers its last sort order and RR starts each time assuming things are as specified in rr.ini (whatever that may be). Anyway, an easy way of solving this would be to force Winamp to start in the order RR would expect it to be. Could I place a command like the following somewhere that would execute upon startup?:
    ACTIVATE;Playlist Editor||SENDKEY;^+2||PLFORMAT;%TITLE%||RELOADLIST

    You can do what you want using of a .bat file..

    Make it so that changing your display format saves/copies/renames a file in the HD (using RUN + .bat file), then have the same or another .bat file run at RR's startup and check for the file on the HD.. if the file exists or has this or that name, run the command you want above using exec.exe (command line tool to execute RR commands)... you should probably put that messy command in ExecTBL and just execute a simpler command with exec.exe like:

    exec.exe TITLEFORMAT

    then in ExecTBL:

    "TITLEFORMAT","ACTIVATE;Playlist Editor||SENDKEY;^+2||PLFORMAT;%TITLE%"

    Also, PLFORMAT implies reloadlist no matter what.
