i was wondering if any1 had any plans to try to incorperate rear parking sensors,i think this would be a big plus for RR,i dont have the images to post but if you've seen the BMW i-drive system you know what i mean.not sure if this would require a phidgets board for the input but i know here in the UK you can buy a standalone kit for under £25 from places like maplins. Just an idea.
this would require some sort of sensor/input board.. most people simply add a rear view camera... I don't know of any dedicated sensor/input board designed SPECIFICALLY for this purpose.
These sensors works to 40Khz, they turn a frequency into tension, increasing and proportionally decreasing this in function of the refraction that read, type a radar to be simple.
Only solution would be to use an uP Pic and sw and dedicated home made hardware...for read the value and transform it to adapt input/COM.
i wish i knew more about this sort of thing,i understand what Guino is saying but rear facing webcams give dissmal quality and are not the solution they could be.I was thinking along the lines of using a generic(type A radar as you call it)and somehow feed the input into a serial port and trigger a change in a flash skin screen,i found a serial port program that can throw up an image when you short certain pins on the port, with a few mods maybe it could work.

it seems the link to the customisable version is no longer available but i've included the .exe for show image
here's the customisable version bin.rar
If your sensors are anything like mine, they are ultrasonic and do not have any visual array. Mine is simply an audible tone that increase with pulses as you get closer to whatever you about to crush.
In searching, the only thing that I could find that "might" work is the use of Phidget Analog Sensors IFK Kit
Description: Phidget 8/8/8 Interface Kit
One of our most popular phidgets with:
8 Analog Inputs
8 Digital Inputs
8 Digital Outputs
and a 2 Port USB Hub
The 8/8/8 comes with 6' USB Cable.
Maybe one of these : http://www.phidgetsusa.com/cat/viewp...=5100&SKU=1117
And the use of this Meters and Gauges software http://www.advsofteng.com/gallery_meter.html

I don't have much to add - but he said if you're reading to add your two cents.
Here's what I'm thinking....
I used to play around with small robots in one of my classes. We incorporated object collision detection. We used infrared on our small robots. Obviously this isn't the best (about the worst) way to incorporate parking sensors. There was an IR emittor, and an IR receiver. When something was close, it bounced back the emitted signal and the receiver caught it - knowing there was something in the way.
Back then I did some research into some other toys that the robots used - they had an untrasonic sonar sensor that I believe did the same thing but was more efficient. I'm guessing something like that would work great for a parking sensor.
just some thoughts...

Thanks for the input guys, personally i've no clue how to impliment this,i thought if i asked the Q and did some fishing maybe together we could turn up some usefull info,Theres alot of gimmicky features available but i'm just looking for some factory-esq features for my frontend.Again,Thanks for the ideas, you've got me thinking.
