    RR Spiking CPU - Not Flash

    Ok. I build a new carputer and had it running flawlessly in house for a couple weeks. It was blazing fast and RR was working sweet.. Yesterday I install it in truck and now RR is acting just like the FAQ says "High CPU Load, Buttons Fail to Respond, Flash Issues/Spins too Fast ?".

    Now, like I said.. Everything was working fine in house. These are the things I changed since in car:

    * Custom Resolution of 800x480 via Nvidia onboard video
    * Using Xport
    * Installed USB GPS
    * Added USB Wifi card

    That's pretty much it.. Reading the FAQ I definately don't think it's flash related being that it worked fine for weeks. Quino also mentions the VIA 4-in-1 update but I don't have a VIA board..

    I haven't tested changing the resolution yet but I sure hope it's not because that's one of the reasons I got the board I did so I can run 800x480. Anyone have any thoughts?

    Thanks!

    Yea, I'll do that. I was just hoping someone would say "yea, x happened to me and I had to do x". I just hope I don't have to go back to 800x600.

    You should change it back for TESTING.. then you'll know if that's causing you any problem.. if you didn't change any major settings with RR or did any updates on the software, then this shouldn't happen... I'd just change the res. not run xport and unplug the GPS/Wifi Card... if that doesn't change the CPU load, then there's probably something else you did causing the issue (something you don't remember doing).

    If your CPU is "spiking" say every so many seconds, then make sure you have those lines in RR.INI (set the port to appropriate values if you use xm/sirius):

    vcomport=0
    tcomport=0
    xmport=0
    srport=0

    Well good thing is it's not the resolution. I changed it and it still happened. I did forget to add that I did add some lines manually to the rr.ini to try and get the gps speedo to work.

    I added:

    mappointport=xxxx
    gpsport=xxxx

    to the end of my rr.ini. Maybe that jacked it up? Should those port numbers be the same?

    wouldnt affect it either way. Though if youre not using mappoint you can remove that line.

    What is vcomport and tcomport?

    EDIT - Nevermind.. Search RR Readme.txt

    vcomport = Voltmeter COM port
    tcomport = Temperature sensor COM port. Set 0 to disable.

    I thought if you wanted to use the speedo you had to have both lines? I may have read that wrong though..

    which speedo? The one from MC2.0? Thats from freedrive. Unless i'm mistaking you dont need to have both in your .ini in fact i run mappoint and iguidance and still only have gpsport.

    For what it's worth, I had issues with slow flash and unresponsive buttons when I had the XMPORT configured and my XMD1000 wasn't plugged in. Plugging in the XM receiver or setting the XMPORT=0 when the receiver wasn't connected fixed things for me.
