    Hotkeys and skins

I am evaluationg front ends and skins. I loaded up a skin in RR. CRX blue I think it was. I found that the naviagtion buttons to select tracks didn't have keyboard commands nor did the arrow keys work. I thought maybe this was controled via a skin but after looking through the skinning tutorial I don't think so. I am hoping to setup an front end that is fully navagable without the use of a mouse. Is this a pipe dream?

    Qs:
Are button hot keys (keyboard commands) set via a skin?
If not, does one have to modify the source RR project to implement them?
Was there a keyboard command there and I just didn't know what it was?

Any help you can offer is apreciated. Thanks in advance.

It's all defined in KeyTBL.ini. Yes, you define the actions.

Ahh. I see it. Cool. So those are global setting reguardless of what skin I use? Sweet.

Yes, they're global. While you're at it, check out ExecTBL.ini, too. You can define custom commands in there.

I don't quite get how it works. I put this line in my exectlb.ini file:
    "a","UP",audio_player.skin
Basically, I want RoadRunner to execute the command "UP", if I press "a" and the "audio_player.skin" is open. Doesn't work though. Do I need a keytbl.ini ? AFAIK the keytbl.ini is just required when I want to setup global keys for RoadRunner, correct ?

Hm. Just read, that I have to use keycodes. Still have a problem though:
    When I put the line:
    222,"UP"
in the keytbl.ini of RoadRunner it works as it should. But when I put the line:
    222,"UP",audio_player.skin
in the exectbl.ini in the skin directory nothing happens. Any Ideas ?

keytbl.ini and exectbl.ini have different purposes.

Keytbl.ini is short for keyboard Table, ie it is designed to allocate hotkeys

exectbl.ini is short for executable table and is designed the set up commands and command paths.
