    XM and hibernation

First off, thanks for the awesome software!

I recently added XM to the car (because as we all know these installs are never acutally done) and am having a hiccup with RR.

Yesterday everything was running smooth. Today however, I can't get XM to work in RR. I downloaded Frodo's alpha XM program and was able to get the channels updated and show what is currently playing. If I close it and open RR, the channels update, but I don't get any sound. I know it can't be the cable because everything was working beautifully. Antenna signal shows full and everything seems OK. I reboot and nothing happens. I did get it working for a while this morning. Am I missing something in the ini files???

I'm getting ready for a weekend roadtrip and would love to have this running!!

    Forgot in last post:
Using most current RR and Terk XMD1000 unit with homemade cable that is properly shielded and working properly (tested on another machine to make sure).

    Thanks!!

I haven't used Frodo's XM skin for a while, but I recall having problems with it and hibernation. I have been using RR with b8bboi's Centrafuse skin, however, and it has been working flawlessly with my XMPCR.

FrodoXM does the recording and playback deal by default. If you get RR to list your channels but you hear no sound, then you'll need to install/use the line in plugin, unless of course you plug your XMD directly to your amp/receiver instead of channeling it through the computer.

    Hi Guino,

As always, quick reply.... I have the XMD plugged directly into the line in on sound card. With frodo app, I could only get it to work when it was plugged into mic-in port, but RR worked on any input. The line-in plugin is not included as part of the main program?

I'll have to search around and see if I can find it...

Well, I checked into the line-in plugin and will see if this helps. Basically, everything was working fine yesterday without this plugin.

When I resume from hibernation, RR pulls up my saved XM playlist (with about 6 saved channels). The channels don't update and I can't change channel/play, etc. If I exit RR and open the FrodoXM program, everything updates with current songs. Exit FrodoXM, open RR and *usually* I will see what is currently playing but hear no sound whatsoever.

I know it's most likely operator error vs. RR, but I'm dumbfounded how it can work one day and crap out the next. Is there some config file or ini editing I haven't looked at? I checked PCR mode to no avail either.

ok, I need you to tell me exactly the situations when it works and when it doesn't work..

-starting up XM in RR from power on of computer
-starting up XM in RR after hibernation -- if you have a problem, here, does it help at all to go into MUSIC, then back to XM after resuming from hibernation ?

If you were getting sound without the linein plugin, then you never needed it.
    xmcache.ini controls the station names/genres ...

Yeah, sound is working, so I don't need the line-in...

Today, it worked perfect in and out of hibernation about 5 times so far. I had checked XMPCR; unchecking this and the line-in seemed to fix the problem.

When I had the problem, going into music, exiting, opening XM seemed to help. Rebooting vs. hibernation did not seem to make any difference.

One odditiy, however. The album art for the music showed up where the XM station logo went. Changing the channel didn't update this graphic either. Also, sometimes the song being played won't update in the XM window. I have to change stations for it to update. If I'm on the GPS screen, however, the song title updates nicely.

How do I remove a channel from the cache? Is it in the xmcache.ini file? Disney Kids (I think channel 115) doesn't exist anymore and sometimes screws up the current song title for the channels around it.

    Thanks!

Well, ****. I just had problems with hibernation again. When it comes out of hib the XM screen seems to show whatever was playing when it was shut off. If I exit XM screen, go to main, click on XM it works beautifully.

I still have the problem of the current channel not updating the song (although all other channels do update).

My BT GPS and IG are the same way coming out of hibernation. I have to close the screen, and reopen it to get it to work right. Is there a "hibernation.ini" file I need to setup?

Can you try something out. I have problems with the refreshing as well and my XMCACHE.INI file messing up. I made the xmcache file read only so now it does not mess up anymore but..... it will not save the last station anymore; oh well I guess.

Anyhow, try tapping the current channel playing with your finger to see if it updates after. When mine doesn't update I just tap the channel within playing within the list with my finger and then it starts to refresh every song change. Sometimes it refreshes right away and sometimes I have to tap the channel to get it to work.

    Chuck
