    switching play/pause image on a button depending on state

    Hi,
    I know that I am a neewbie, but have been reading the forums for the last 6 months. Right now have all the hardware ready and am in the process of adjusting a skin for my taste. While doing a skin got to a question: I want to have a button (play/pause) the image on which will display the relevant action (pause when playing and play when off or paused). Tried the following:
    1. Indicator with play.gif pause.gif and stop.gif - Works great until I press any other button on the skin - then displays the OFF image
    2. Tried to do what the following suggests: http://mp3car.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=66087 but with no success
    Can someone help either by giving a config example or by pointing to a thread with explanations (could not find anything and not for the lack of trying) or tips.
    Thanks.

    By 1 I believe you're referring to this indicator code:

    "STATUS" - This will attempt to show Play|Pause|Stop.gif from the CURRENT SKIN's FOLDER into the defined area. (RR Only)

    If so, are you by any chance placing this indicator over any other indicator or button ? cause that would probably not work.. but if you are placing the indicator on its own separate space, then let me know so I can test/fix it, as it's supposed to work.

    Hi guino,
    first of all thanks for your great work.
    Yes you are right - I am using the indicator with the STATUS code (and it does work if it is not over the button). However ideally I would like to change an image on the button that performs the action i.e. I have a PLAY / PAUSE button and I want to be able to show a corresponding image on the face of that button (PLAY when paused and PAUSE when played).
    Is that possible?

    Thanks.

    The easiest way to do this is probably with Flash.

    Now the post you referred on 2, should also work.. if you tried it and it didn't work, please post the commands you used so I can review/test it.. it's a bit complex simply because you'll have to load 3 (THREE) images everytime you change the drawing of the button (ON/OFF/DOWN) otherwise the indicator image will be overwritten by the button's images.. plus you should not use the STATUS indicator at all. It's definitely much easier using flash -- and probably would work better.

    guino,
    bellow are the relevant sections from the skin file and the EXECTbl.ini file. I am not sure that I did it correctly as the functionality of play/pause stopped working (I am not sure I understand yet (will serach for it) how the EXECTbl.ini file works).
    In the skin file:
    B08,606,392,75,57,"PLAYICON",

    Inside the EXECTbl.ini
    "PLAYICON","LOADIMG;606;392;75;57;play.gif;ON||LOA DIMG;606;392,75;57;play.gif;DOWN||LOADIMG;606;392; 75;57;play.gif;OFF||PLAY",PLAY
    "PLAYICON","LOADIMG;606;392;75;57;pause.gif;ON||LO ADIMG;606;392;75;57;pause.gif;DOWN||LOADIMG;606;39 2;75;57;pause.gif;OFF||PLAY",PAUSE
    "PLAYICON","LOADIMG;606;392;75;57;play.gif;OFF||PL AY"

    where the play.gif contains a pause image and pause.gif contains a play image

    Thanks for your help.

    can you send me the .skin gile along with the JPGs and the GIFs so I can test it.. seems like it should work, although you probably should load the ON/DOWN layers on the last PLAYICON definition as well.. but the above should work the way I see it.. if it doesn't than there's a bug with it or you may have an older version of RR.

    guino,
    attaching all that you asked. Hope it will help. I am using the RoadRunner from 3/5/2006.

    Just to give credit where credit is due - the skin is a modification of a Bongo skin.

    Thanks a lot.

    Well, it works as long as you use the commands propperly.. check your first PLAYICON definition.. you have a COMMA ( , ) instead of a Semi-colon ( ; ) in there. That's what was screwing up.

    There's still a bug with the LOADIMG command when using rescaled skins though.
