Can't change volume control after standby resume

I have a USB Creative Live! soundcard. It works great. But when I resume from standby the RR volume control no longer works (but woirks fine after a reboot). I can still adjust the volume in Windows as normal and even the slider in RR goes up and down fine but it doesn't actually change the volume. Why is this?!

again, the kind of crap you have to put up with when using USB crap. The sound card is probably disconnecting when suspending/resuming, which means that the mixer information prior to it becomes invalid. I'd try making sure you have the latest drivers. As long as the OS doesn't think the USB device is unplugged during the proccess, it should work fine (so if you have to power the device externally, make sure it doesn't loose power BEFORE the computer suspends and that it has power BEFORE it resumes).

Will try the latest drivers now. It is not external powered. Power comes from USB. You're right USB things are ****e! They definitely were'nt designed with suspend/stnadby in mind.

More like Windows XP isn't designed with suspend/standby in mind. I feel your pain. About 80% of my CarPC problems come from USB devices acting up on hibernation resuming.

Tried new drivers but no joy. Going to just have it switch off and boot up instead of having standby. USB is Uber **** Bollocks. Having problems with crashes when playing videos aswell now. I bet its related. If it did make to sound so much better i'd chuck it!

I can add a command to restart the mixer, but what I can't do is guarantee that when you try to open the mixer it will be available... I can try to add something else to try to re-open the mixer until it works, but I don't have any way to test it.

Yes this would be great. A "restart mixer" command that I can have run when coming out of standby.
