"FILE;C:\MyInd.GIF" will work on my machine but "FILE;$Imagepath$" will not
is this a limitation or am i overlooking something

indicators dont support variables.. didn't think there was going to be any use for that, but I could add it.. although, what's the difference of changing the variable $imagepath$ as opposed to changing/renaming the files around ?

guio, sometimes we want to change the file to be monitored in the indicator from an external app.

This is kinda similar to how I want to use a $variable$ in the SD tag. If you would expand support for $variables$ in objects other than labels, that'd be great.

While we're on this topic, I've noticed that if you have a button on top of an indicator, when you mouse over and out of the button, the indicator will be gone, too. Is this a limitation (since you probably have the "on" state of indicators and buttons on the same layer) or is it something you can fix?

my reason is more in keeping the code clean and simple for skins and gpsgas rather than using "full path to stationnumber1'simage file.bmp" i can just put "File;$STATION3_IMG$"

thats the only way ive figured i can load images into the skin semi dynamically and change them besides making a new indicator via myextension.dll

don't worry, I was already planning to add it.. b8bboi, I've already added support for definitions with variables, I think I posted you a link to the test version, not sure you saw it.

I'm not sure where you posted it. Is that the one from this link?

    I'll give it a try.

guino, just tried it. The variables don't seem to get updated in this version (all of them, not just the ones used for indicators).

I roll back and they work again (but of course I don't get the file indicators).

I only added the variable support for definitions on that version.. I haven't messed with indicators yet.

actually, it did work for my file indictor.

What I meant was that when you update those variables from outside using SETVAR, they don't change.
