Try following the first post of the Flash FAQ (I've updated it this morning), then unzip the flash.ctl file from RR's sources over the one you have and try again -- I'm suspecting there's something related to the latest versions of flash. If you have VNC/PCAnywhere etc, I can try to help you out directly.

I got it to compile thanks for all you help. I uninstalled both flash player and shockwave then downloaded the new flash.zip and registered it. I never did reinstall either the player or the shockwave but everything works just as before except now I can compile the source.
