    Winamp randomly hangs

hey, i HAD a good working system, until i reloaded windows(drivers curupted something bad)

    anyway,

with my fresh install using the latest version of RR, and winamp v2.8, winamp or road runner randomly hang.

i think the problem is with winamp, i've also tried winamp v5.02.

    any ideas?

Normally this is either a bad plugin or bad hardware, RR+Winamp are normally VERY stable alone. Also, 2.8 is NOT a supported version (2.9+ are).

Some people complain of 2.95 freezing right at startup, and the only time I've seen that happen was when my Media Library had corrupt data in it.. once the Library was deleted it started to work fine again.

Its funny you say this I've suddnely developed the same prob with the recent RR version - the whole PC stops.... then a few mins later carries on as though nothing had happerned ( Thought it was my Bluetooth at first still testing that ) ... Was not going to mention but having seen this post thought I may as well.

Just to check 'Media Libray' I'm not using any m3u files at all... is this what you mean G ?

    Cheers

EDIT - Not sure if this helps but enabled don't reload play list around about the same time... will have a play tommrrow see what happerns.

Media Library is a plugin that comes standard with winamp. It normally comes disabled, but if you even just play with settings it will start running... you can simply open the ml folder in winamp and delete the .dat files if you suspect of it.

    i found the problem(i think)

one of my usb wires coming from the touchscreen(goes to a hub with my soundblaster) had the insulation rub off, and one wire exposed, if i hit a bump it would short to ground !!!! i've replaced the cable, and moved it and secured it(gromets and zip ties) .... will keep you all posted if this did not fix for me(note still using earlier version)
