I hate to ask but it is driving me nuts....

What exactly is the "OUT" or "OUTPUT" layer anyway??
What would you use this for??
    Why is it needed???
How can I use it to my advantage????

Also what are the limitations of the "LOADIMG" command?
I mean if I load an image on top of a lable will the label be topmost or will the image? I assume the label.
How does it affect buttons if at all??

The main reason I ask is I am about to try to add some small images to my skin that come on and off depending on certain conditions and would like to know exactly what tools I have to work with before I start. Anyone with some insight please chime in.

    Thanks in advance.

The output layer is the only thing you see and is a mix of other layers which are loaded to memory only. In most cases you'll have a button highlighted some indicators on, and others off.. RR will use the output layer to display the resulting image on the screen. If you want to change how an indicator will look ON, you can simply modify the ON layer and (whenever it turns on), it will be displayed. if you want something to show immediately, use the OUT layer. You can also make dynamic indicators for displaying different images on the same place of the skin. If you try to update the ON image of a button or indicator while the button is highlighted or indicator is on, then it won't change how the button looks until RR redraws the button/indicator. The Output layer can be used directly for that, but it only displays things until something else overwrites it.
