A few problems with latest RR Version

    Hello Road Runner newbie here:

Goinf to be doing a carputer here shortly and wanted to get the Front end taking care of first. A few minor issues which I sure can be easily fixed by the carputerGODS.

    Events:
Download Road Runner + BMV2 Skin InstallShield
Downloaded a few skins from the Skins button on RR's site
    Downloaded Skin Editor
Downloaded reccomended Winzmp version <stable version>

    Issues:
    1) When I open RR, Winamp seems to open as well under RR window? If I close Winamp, Music will not play

    2) On Screen keyboard "buttons" seem to type 2 of everything I type. If I use my keyboard, all types fine.

    3) I unzipped the Skins to the skins directory. Tried to change skin from the Skin selector, RR locks up. Have to go back to RR configuration Tool to change back to default BMV2 skin.

    4) Currently I am testing RR on my laptop with a screen resolution of 1680x1050. RR doesnt seem to resize to full screen, rather stay anchored to same size and 0,0. I see you can edit this in the INI, which I changed to 1680x1050...just made it mount to the middle of the screen, rather than resize it.

    5) After making the .ini screen side changes the web now doesnt seem to open..lol

    6) Rather than editing a skin, is there any tools to start from scratch with maybe an Insert_Picture option? Or am I missing something simple here. The default middle logo is "H" for Honda, i'd rather change it to a solid picture.

If you dont mind, please reply in a #1 <answer> #2 <answer fashion>. As not to get question/resolution mixed up.

    MUCH THANKS

    1) Seems to be normal
    2) If I dont edit the .ini for screen size it types fine
    3) Update fixed this. Some of the skins I downloaded however are only a few .jpgs and .ini files...missing the .skin files.
    4) <needing reply> and to search more and read FAQ.

For 6), have you tried reading the "Skin Commands.txt" file from the RR package? That would be a really good place to start if you haven't already.

    3) Make sure are downloading full featured skins as many people (including myself) like to release teasers and betas that aren't 100% finished. I believe all the skins on the rrdownloads site are mostly complete.

    4) RR is designed of in-car monitors usually around 7-8in (800x480, 800x600). That's not to say RR can't display at that resolution (i have a MC skin that i run at 2560x1600 for my home theatre)... however your skin may not be designed to stretch that big. Instead, simply change the resolution of your laptop to 800x600 and it should display "full-screen".

    6) search for "RRSkinEditor". Other than that, you will have to get your feet wet.

Yeah, I kind of thought that about needing to edit each skin per new size. I have also edited my logo.swf with a nice little one I just made . Feet wet = FTW

Do you want to launch some App.exe from your skin? The Skin Commands.txt file has some info on that..

"RUN" - Dynamic Commands: set the code of a button to: "RUN;COMMAND|PARAMETER1|PARAMETER2" will make it so clicking this button runs the specified command&parameters in the computer. As an option you can run the command specifying the application name to embed in the current screen (the application will be enbedded using the "A" settings in the skin file of screen:

    Example: "RUN;C:\WINDOWS\NOTEPAD.EXE;NOTEPAD" (to run embedded)
    "A,000,055,800,545,000,000,000" (.skin definition)

Optionally you can also set the text to be "spoken" when clicking the button

    Example "RUN;C:\WINDOWS\NOTEPAD.EXE;NOTEPAD;NOTEPAD"

    1) an option in RR config is to hide winamp. the way i do this is to start winamp on its own, make sure the playlist/eq/etc is not displayed, then go into the config and click hide winamp.

I think I am missing something here. Can you provide a small step by step on how to do the above?
