anyway for rr or winamp to read the next track in shuffle mode?

I'm advancing some of the features of th mc2.0 skin, something i'm interested in is the ability to have a box pop-up with the song to play next. Has anyone heard of a way to get this information from winamp via plugin or whatever.

I don't know if that can be done in shuffle mode, I'd have to take a look at winamp's SDK. Remind me about it later.

From the research I've done into the Winamp SDK, it is impossible to read the next track in shuffle mode. To get around this people usually handle their own playlist and shuffling within the software and just send each track to winamp as it is needed to be played. Xlobby uses Winamp for its audio and it sends two songs to winamp so that Winamp plugins can be used such as fading between tracks. Would take alot of work in RR I think.

Doing this would solve the hang issue whilst loading huge playlists, as this hang is only caused by loading all the songs into the Winamp playlist at once.

This is a really good idea.

Isn't there a way to dump the playlist to a file? It isn't the most elegant approach, but you'd only have to do it whenever the list changes.

uh, ya you would just save it as a playlist. Its just a text file w/ paths to all the songs contained in the list...

But the playlist within winamp doesnt get shuffled, the next song just gets picked at random. So what would saving it to a file (which RR already does btw) accomplish?

    I see that.

Well, there's always the sort>>randomize list function. We could just use that as an alternate shuffle.
