    Music path, Playlist path, Winamp

When I set up RRConfig and set the music and playlist path for winamp, it never pulls my music. I have to manually go into winamp and generate a playlist, close winamp and then open RR for it to work. What is the significance of the music and playlist path setup if I still have to go into winamp anyway? And what about when I add music to my music directory? Do I have to go into winamp each time and rebuild the playlist there?

I think I saw the same problem with my setup. The fix was to re-configure WinAmp. I had to add my music directory to the WinAmp library. After that, RR began functioning as expected. I hope this helps you too.

Yeah, but I still don't get the point of the music and playlist directories if I still have to manually create a playlist in winamp. Do they serve any purpose?

Your music Path is where you store your music. (RR will not load anything from it without you asking to do so).
Your playlist path is where RR will save any playlists you make in RR. (you should choose a place within your music path in order to browse and load playlists -- you do this yourself when you want to)
Very much like winamp, RR works with playlists, that is, you load songs from the harddrive (the list you see on the audio BROWSER) into a playlist (the list you see in the audio PLAYER) and that's where you play songs from. It is possible to play directly from the disk (without playlist), but there are only a few select skins that are setup that way (you may have to edit them yourself). You do NOT have to open winamp outside RR to create/load playlists or add/select files to create a new playlist.

Thanks, I think this clarifies it almost completely for me except for my first post. As a new user, I install winamp, I install RR and then I run RRConfig.exe. I set the music path and the playlist path. I open up RR and all I get is the Winamp Demo. I expected to have a list of the files from the music path on start up. So, is my first step to create a playlist within RR and save that? Right now, I'm adding files to Winamp's playlist, closing Winamp and then running RR. I couldn't find any FAQ related to first run with RR when it comes to playlists and music. Only the searching music FAQ but it didn't answer my question really.

Forget winamp all together. Once you set the winamp path, music path and playlist path in RRconfig.exe, RR will then take over - using winamp for functionality only. You are expecting RR to pre-load all your music from the "Music Folder" into the playlist automatically. It doesn't and shouldn't do this for obvious reasons. There are two simple solutions for you:

    1) go into the audio browser and add all your music to the playlist...Done, or

    2) Find a skin with "Directory Player" capability, or customize one to do it (very easy).

Ok, thanks. This clears it all up now. I was just confused because I'm used to mediaengine where I set the music path, load the database and all my music is ready to play when I browse.
