    MatrixPC: Won't muting iG prevent it from switching? I don't think muting iG mutes WinAmp, and it should never change the volume level when muted. Therefore the mute button also toggles auto-switch (and auto-pause) on/off... which is actually an awesome feature!

    That is pretty cool, like a stfu mode where it wont bother you with voice or screen switching.

    If you have a modded ig3 you may or may not see the volume mute indicator. Its still there, but if your map is black (like mine) you wont see it.

    Here is a RR button i whipped up that will turn it on and off , has a label that will show the status of it also so you can stick it on any screen to know if its on or not. Good if you still want to hear voice but turn auto switching on/off

    ExecTBL.ini

    Code:
    "AUTOSWITCHON","SETVAR;igautosw;1"
    "AUTOSWITCHOFF","SETVAR;igautosw;0"
    "AUTOGPS","BYVAR;igautosw;AUTOSWITCHON<<AUTOSWITCHOFF"

    Button Code
    Code:
    "AUTOGPS"
    label code
    Code:
    "BYVAR;igautosw;=AUTOSWITCH OFF<<=AUTOSWITCH ON"

    What's the label code? (still learning RR, that script is definatly a big help in understanding what I can do, how does that provide a label though?)

    in RRSKineditor, when you create a new label or double click an existing one a pop up box should be shown.

    Where it says "Code" in the box, just put the code i have below for label code in there.

    "BYVAR;igautosw;=AUTOSWITCH OFF<<=AUTOSWITCH ON"

    what this code here does is tells the label that its contents are produced by a variable (BYVAR) and the variable to look for is igautosw (every option in RR.ini is also a var in RR automaticly). Since the var is either on or off, basicly a toggle it only has two states. AUTOSWITCH OFF and AUTOSWITCH ON is the text that the label will show based on the state of the variable.

    Ok, with SangreThor's question, and Matrix's statement, if the "Ding.wav" file is replaced with an empty wav, theoretically when the empty .wav plays, there will be no volume change, thus, it should not switch right?

    Nope refer to my post above.
    This is the sequence that iG give voice instruction.
    Save system current volume setting -> Adjust volume for iG -> play wave file(s) -> restore system volume setting.

    Make ding.wav silence/empty won't work because iG already alter the volume setting (and that is the method I use to detect when iG going to give voice instruction).

    And some time it goes like this.
    "ding" stop for a second then "bla bla bla bla"

    Before it speak, it change the volume level. So change the file to silence, doesn't help. I am not sure about deleting it.
    So if you set "pauseonvoice=true", that will just pause/resume/pause/resume. It's suck that way.
    yes exactly that is what i am refering to and i belive JohnWPB is also refering to this. mine exact replicated typed version is:
    *driving* pause music, swtich to GPS "Ding" switch back, play music (.5 second later. pasue music, switch to GPS "please turn here, etc etc", switch, play.
    which is just what Matrix said.

    So that means we just have to deal with that annoyingness until another method for testing speaking is developed. or forever.
    *edit* i know i could just pause but that defeats the purpose, and fading is already on. the issue is the switching to GPS then back then to GPS.

    this really isn't as huge a deal as everyone is making it out to be.

    There are other things that can be done to reduce the irritation factor.

    1. dont pause the music when IG speaks. Levels can be set so can hear the voice promts clearly over the music.

    2. dont fully pause the music when IG speaks, you can have it set to just reduce the winamp volume to like 15% so you still here the music and also hear the voice prompt clearly. Then restore the winamp volume when dings and talking is over.

    3.set your winamp output plugin to fade audio on pause/stop (4000-6000 is a good setting). Similar to #2 but it still pauses, but instead of harsh breaks in your music groove thang, it smoothly lowers the volume.
    But since usually the ding and talking is not a long period of time, the volume never really fades to zero so the effect is similar to #2 but easier to setup and if she talks for a long time the vol will fade to zero.

    As I already stated in my very first release. The "Ding" sound make the whole thing suck. Thus I commended out the pause/resume during development. And once release, I thought I have it the code in there;

    Anyway, I never pause/resume my music during iG speaks. I always set iG volume much lounder than music that is when iG speak, I can hear it.

    Don't make a big deal guys. I'm glad that we get to this far. Until iNav release SDK, otherwise, we have to work around, and it won't be perfect solution. Do like LS suggest.

    How do you do option #2? Is this the setting in the rr.ini file? If so, that does nothing to the volume on my system.
