Thread: Auto switch to Guidance screen for iG?

one thing i just thought of while posting a feature request a few sec ago, is that you can have your commands setup so that the pause/resume and or screen switching only happen if you are on specific screens.

So if you only wanted the gps screen to show up if you were presently on the menu screen and audioplayer screen and ignore the screen switching when on any other screen you would set it up like this in ExecTBL.ini


"IGAUTOGPS","GPS",menu.skin
"IGAUTOGPS","GPS",audio_player.skin

so when you are on audio_browser.skin (or any other screen not listed) it will never switch to the GPS screen when IG speaks.

another update regarding my addon application...
I can successfully pull every direction arrow now . Now what i'm doing is hard-programming the location of the direction box for several of the most popular skins (freedom full-screen, freedom regular screen, and bmv done... lsx, mc2.0, johnWPB's coming next). This means if you use one of these screens there will be little-to-no config needed .

what i'm going to do is release the arrow version then get to work on pulling the data boxes. This will NOT be easy unfortunately .

I have some questions. the words hardcoding and lsx just sent a chill up my spine. jk but seriously.

how big is the arrow and is the size fixed?
can the graphic for the arrow be changed?
when you say you are pulling the arrow from IG are you pulling the actual graphic thats used inside IG or just the direction of the arrow and using your own graphics?
are the arrows stuck in only one position, can i move it around?
How are you displaying the arrow graphic are you using a flashbox in RR, or IMG box etc (if so ignore all the other questions)

The reason im asking is cuz looking at my main menu now, ill likely have to move some things around for this to fit in and look at home.

one thing i think would be cool is if the album art switched to the arrow image and back again in a loop every few sec that would be really cool.

I switch off the auto in the setup menu and some others so it would not get screwed up in the middle of a cycle. – at least I think

ok lets see if i can answer all these lol

the program simply captures the color of from 1-3 pixels from the 96x96 arrow box on iG. It then compares the locations of these pixels to determine what arrow is being displayed. From there all it does is set custom indicators ON in rr depending on which arrow i displayed. For instance if the program finds the left turn arrow then my program sends SETIND;CUSTOMLEFTTURN;ON.

Now from the skinning standpoint things get tricky. as it stands the only way to add the arrows to a skin is thru flash. However what i plan to do is add a new indicator to rr's source that will act like the GPSHEADING indicator now.. only instead of displaying E.jpg, NE.jpg etc from the skin folder it will display leftturn.jpg, rightturn.jpg etc etc. This is how u are able to use any image you want. If the images dont exist in the skin folder my program will pull the arrows directly from iG's screen and place them in the skin folder for you. Where the image shows up depends on where u place the indicator in your skin.

As for displaying the image in the album art box, very possible via flash but with a standard skin i dont think it could be done without changes to the source or another external script.

Ok i'm going back to coding again.. LSX is next. I downloaded it when it first came out so my instincts are telling me i better go download the whole thing again lol.

This morning I play a little with checking the status of PAUSE/PLAY, I get some nasty result. Basically, I was in a loop of PAUSE.

You may have PAUSE/RESUME out of sync because WHEN iG is pause and you click on PLAY button or Phoco execute RESUME/PLAY command, the player is play, but this process already set the flag that the player is currently paused. Either one of those actions will put this mod out of sync.

If IGPAUSE/IGRESUME commands only can do PAUSE/RESUME, that is a little easier because I can monitor the RR's command for PAUSE and RESUME and set a flag there. IGPAUSE/IGRESUME, can do more than just pause and resume so I can't rely on RR's PAUSE/RESUME.

The worst part is the PLAY button that toggle between Play and Pause.

your instincts are very correct.
I also have a local version that has significant changes that hasnt been released yet, if you need that just let me know. But i think the main menu is pretty much the same, kind of. Well see there are about 8 different layouts for the main menu and you just pick witch one you want on the fly from inside the skin. This isnt avail yet the current release.

anyway, back to the arrows.

I think this may be an issue. What about people who use a modded IG ?
The one that comes with my skin is completely different from the stock IG3, including the turn icons, i replaced all of them. So it may be harder to find the arrow with lsx or anyone not using the stock IG.

i cant remember what the stock arrows look like, i think they are white though.

I like the idea of using a .swf file for the icon and album art, that would be super cool and still useable on non flash only skins.

yeah the whole play pause thing is a mess in winamp. I dont think there are separate command for play/pause in RR. Even in winamp if you click the play button multiple times it will restart your track from the beginning each time unless it was paused beforehand.

I dont think there is anything that can be done about this short of not using winamp in RR, lol.

just to confirm, you are talking about LSX VOID right? and not LSX they are completly different 2 skins with VOID being the current version ive been updating. Havnt updated LSX in a while.
