    Much thanks for not giving up, I think this is FANTASTIC and is a great skin add. Is it safe to assume this data will be available Global across the skin even when IG is not in focus? That and - when can I test

    Thanks for all your hard work!!!!!!!!!
    The ETA and REM number is just a label thats available anywhere in the skin as long as you haev that label on your skin. The instruction label (shown int he trackname position) is set via variable, then there's a function inside the addon that formulates the foot/miles after the variable is set. HOPEFULLY i'll be able to remove that function altogether and replace the "610 feet" with the actual name of the street to turn on. My efforts to do this so far havent shown much promise though. I'll explain how to include these in your skin in the instructions.

    One thing i must note is while this works on all of my systems with no offsets, people with high-end graphics cards that like to smooth font edges and similar effects may have issues reading the data needed for labels. The arrow will still work but everything else will either cause the addon to close or throw an error. Unfortunately there's nothing i can do about that because my ocr engine is accurate to the pixel. Some cards (like my mx4400) have the ability to turn off these fancy features of specific applications. You may have to do the same. However, if youre just using the windows xp "smooth edges of screen fonts" option, it will still work as long as you have SMOOTHFONT=TRUE in the .ini

    The program will be ready for testing later today. Just have to optimize some code.

    suddenly stopped pausing!

    Hi guys!

    And sry for bringing this thread back from the dead but I got a strange problem today... I just installed everything on a new system... RR settings is:
    Code:
    igautosw=true
    gpsonvoice=true
    pauseonvoice=true
    lastscreenswitchtime=15
    removed the C01 lines from the skins gps file and it embeds just nice, the problem is that on this new install it just doesn't paus winamp when giving instructions... I have set the system wave volume to 100% and the IG to something about 80% so it should work!

    anny suggestions?

    Does the screen switch when iG speak? If it does, then the problem is the PAUSE command.
    Look inside the ExecTBL.ini file (skin and RR) to see if there is any reference to either PAUSE or IGPAUSE and make sure that they actually execute PAUSE command instead of something else. Also manually click the PAUSe button to see if winamp Pause.

    If the screen isn't switch try changing wave volum level and ig volum level to a much bigger gap (for testing purpose) to see if it switch.

    Will check if it pauses tomorrow... getting late here!

    Checked the Exec.tbl though, only the one in RR since it doesn't seem like freedom is using it's own... this is all I have:
    Code:
    "ONSUSPEND",""
    "ONRESUME",""
    "ONFILECLICK",""
    "ONDIRCLICK",""
    "ONPLCLICK",""
    "ONDLCLICK",""
    "ONPBCLICK",""
    The weird thing is that it's the same on my laptop that I was using before, and on that one it did pause when giving instructions!
    I tried changing the volume a lot earlier and then pressing the "test" button in IG volume control but nothing happened even if I had IG at 5% and Wave at 100%... can it have something to do with my soundcard, using a SB Audigy now!

    When reading the labels, with it continue to read them when iG is in the Background? I ask as say my next turn is 20 minutes away, will the label continue to say 20 minutes, or will that time update as you get closer?

    This will be a FAQ of sorts. It is a list of problems and solutions that I encountered as I tried to get iGuidance 3.0 properly embedded in RR and the volume working correctly. Hopefully someone will find this post when searching and I might save you from reading this entire thread (all 24 pages of it).

    First of all, the implementation can be very easy. As the first post indicates, there is no need to download any beta version of RR. This functionality is built into the regular release of RR now. Just get the latest.

    Embedding: (written for iGuidance 3.0)
    You will need to use RRConfig and go to the GPS section.
    Set “GPS mode” to External (this will generally mean that when you push the GPS menu button in RR the skin “External_gps” will be loaded)
    Set “GPS Path” to iGuidanceUMPC.exe
    Set “GPS window name” to iGuidance
    Set “GPS Port” whatever com port your GPS is on. My GPS is on com 4 and I have Xport setup to replicate that to 5,6,7,8. I setup iGuidance to read port 5 and I setup RR to read the same. I am not sure if that is ideal but it sure works.

    I don’t believe any of the other settings here in the GPS section of the config are making any difference for me. Set them or not, your choice.

    Now find these settings at the bottom of the Readme.txt distributed with RR. Read their descriptions. Place these settings in your RR.ini at the bottom and set them appropriately.
    ignative=true|false
    gpstime=true|false
    gpsusadate=true|false
    igautosw=true|false
    gpsonvoice=true|false
    pauseonvoice=true|false
    lastscreenswitchtime=[0-30] in seconds.

    At this point you should be able to load up RR and click GPS…it should open iGuidance in your skin and iGuidance (w/o window header [which means no menus across top]) will fill the space in that skin allocated to the application.
    I am told that if you use ignative=true then you should edit that screen to remove the clipping region. If you use ignative=false then make sure there is a clipping region the same size and position as the application frame.

    At this point the problem I had was that I wanted access to the menus that are found on the window header. As I mentioned this window header cannot be seen and it made no difference if I had ignative true or false or clipping region or no. I finally discovered that I can get at those menus by using Alt+f or Alt+<down arrow> to drop the first menu down. The window bar may be hidden but it is still there and accessible. Note that this doesn’t work until iGuidance has been running for about 2 mins. I am not sure why but it won’t respond to keystrokes until that time. To further complicate matters my in-car keyboard (the mini usb keyboard from the store here) doesn’t have alt keys so I had to setup a custom keystroke macro on my shuttleXpress. I did discover after all this that the two things I wanted most from the menus are available in other ways. I wanted demo mode (which is available on the destination menu after a route is active and I wanted trip calculator which will popup if you press T.

    Sound:
    Finally I wanted the sound to lower to around 25% when IG was giving voice directions. The setting in the RRConfig didn’t make any difference for me and just caused confusion.
    I spent hrs and hrs on this. Here is what worked.

    Put this in your RR ExecTBL.ini

    "IGPAUSE","!PRESET;IG3;WINAMP||SETVOL;WINAMP;5 0"
    "IGRESUME","PRESET;IG3;WINAMP"

    The 50 at the end of that line will vary from person to person. Try different values between 0 and 200.

    Set pauseonvoice=true
    It’s a bit of a misnomer. Set this way pauseonvoice=true will not pause but will lower the volume.

    The last thing that is needed is for the volume level in IG to be somewhat different than your winamp volume. My winamp volume is always at 100% so I set IG to be one notch below 100%. Then it started working.

    Oh, btw, when I couldn’t get the sound working I read on here that the latest version of winamp that works flawlessly with RR was 5.13. I had 5.2 installed so I uninstalled it and installed 5.13. I have no idea if that made any difference as I didn’t discover the ExecTBL.ini settings until after that.

    I found one other problem that should be noted. I am also using xport3. My GPS is on com4, so I decided to tee com4 to com10 and com11. I chose 10 and 11 just to make it clear that these were virtual ports. I found that when iGuidance or iGuidanceUMPC starts, if the port number is out of some range, it resets it to 1 in the registry. I changed xport to create ports 5 and 6, with iGuidanceUMPC on 5 and rr on 6 and everything is working.

    I've been having problems with this feature now the past week or two now and I hope that someone can help.

    Here are my rr.ini entries:
    igautosw=1
    pauseonvoice=1
    gpsonvoice=1
    lastscreenswitchtime=30

    with the following entries in the skin ExecTBL:
    Code:
    "IGPAUSE","!PRESET;IG3;WINAMP||!PRESET;IG32;MASTER||SETVOL;WINAMP;$evalwinampvolvar$||SETVOL;MASTER;$igmastervol$"
    "IGRESUME","PRESET;IG3;WINAMP||PRESET;IG32;MASTER"
    It was working fine before, but all of a sudden, the reduce volume feature stopped working.

    It would still switch coming to a turn, but volume would not decrease.

    I set up a test skin while on the GPS screen to see it if was changing the appropriate volume lines, but it wasn't. I know the above commands work, but it seems as if they are not being called out during the voice and switching process.

    Thoughts on what to look for to fix this?

    TIA!
