wouldn't it be better to find out why it's not saving to the file on shutdown?
are you 100% sure it's not a hardoff shutdown?
When I am playing MP3s in RR and exit RR, it stores the time location of the MP3 so when I return to RR it starts from that position. The problem I am encountering is that my shutoff controller sends a power off signal to my pc and when this happens, all my programs shut down completely and windows shuts down; it's not a hardoff. RR isn't "cleanly" exited and I assume the resume.ini isn't written to. And when I return to RR, it starts from the previous time I exited from RR.
My thought is to have the resume.ini file updated every 10 seconds or so for the situation where the shutdown is initiated from the power button. Any thoughts on this?

This shouldn't be happening, I mean, RR is supposed to intercept the shutdown event and prepare itself for such. I'll have to take a look at it.

I remember reading somewhere on the net regarding to tweaking Windows. One of the item mention is force running app to close. This could be the problem you have. If the OS give the app 10 second to close, but RR take 15 second, the OS just kill RR. That is why RR isn't have enough time to write to resume.ini.
Try to close RR without shutting down the OS and see if resume.ini is properly written.

It may have something to do with the force shutdown. I am running TinyXP Beast and it may have "optimized" the shutdown process. I'll get a debug.log ASAP
wow, all this time ive been using a winamp plugin to do this, i never knew RR saved the track position also, i just though it saved what last song was playing and started it over from the beginning. When did this get added or has it always been there?
Also in Resume.ini what are the values on lines 3,4 & 6 refer to?

can there not be added to RR somewhere a clean/dirty flag (if there isn't already one.) ie set to on when RR starts, and then set to off when RR closes down clean. Then on the next RR restart certain actions could be taken if RR closed down dirty.
