Thread: RR & Iguidance problem

ive seen #1 happen but rarely with the taskbar, i have another application that is supposed to be set on top of any other window but RR always covers it up no matter what. Not really sure what can be done by us in respect to that.

Does this happen when you run IG standalone? I have the same gps device as you and i also have this same problem, others also have this problem in the GPS section. This has nothing to do with RR on my end or others that have it also. For some reason IG3 dosent lock on to sats when its supposed to, even though its recieveing gps data and you can see the alt,lat, and speed readings, just no tracking on the maps.
For the earthmate gps device, it has an icon in the tray that controls the port splitting, whenever i click on it, IG will instantly lock on sats so i think think whatever the problem is, it is specific to IG3, IG2 never did it, no other gps apps have a problem on my system. So im not sure what can be done about this issue either. Some people get it, some dont. Im just waiting and hoping for an IG3 update.

For those with IG embed issues, im almost certain this is a setting/config issue somewhere in your setup. Ive never had problems embedding IG or the map moving no matter what RR release, either on my dev machine,test machine or carputer.

Im willing to work with someone to try to fix it though, if you zip up your entire RR dir and PM me, ill give you somewhere you can upload it to.

This does seem to be an iG3 issue. I have found two things that have helped with this, if you are using a delorme receiver, with the delorme serial splitter, try setting the port for iGuidance to RAW. This solved the problem with my receiver completely in my case.

If that does not work, then give XPort a try, as that fixed the issue as well.

The only reason I know these are both "Fixes" is I purchased a MS branded Pharos GPS device and put it in the car, and replaced the Delorme serial splitter with Xport, and now I have a lock faster than I can get to the iG screen when RR does a cold boot. It immediately starts tracking.

I moved the Delorme to my dev machine and had the same fracking problem with iG not getting a location, even though the Delorme utility reported 8 satellites locked. I just started trying things, and set the port for RR to RAW in the Delorme serial splitter, and INSTANTLY iG got a lock, and does so every time now if the receiver itself gets a lock.

Not real sure what the technical reason is, but I would assume that iGuidance does not like the info tampered with at ALL, and prefers the straight raw info.

im going to go out and try this right now, ive done everything under the sun to try to fix this. Glad you got a solution. Something always told me it may have something to do with the port splitter built into the delorme drivers, but i didnt have a copy of there older drivers without the port splitting to test and they dont offer them to download. Hopefully setting it to RAW fixes it for me, ive never had good luck with xport, does funky things to my box. But, ive been wanting to get a new gps mouse for a while so if this dont work thats the next stop

Does that go in RR.ini? I think the taskbar/embed issue is that IG tries to full screen and that is when RR loses focus. I can zip my entire rr settings and send it to you later if you are wiiling to help. Just let me know where to send it.

#2 happens in or out of RR so I think you are right it sounds like an IG problem. I tried setting the Delorme Serial splitter program to RAW and I monitored it ans it was getting all sorts of satelites but in IG the GPS status didn't see anything. Set back to NEMA and open IG, then click gps status and that is when IG works. So RAW in the delorme is a no go.

I'll have to try the xport program later.

#2 problem fixed Thanks guys. Tired the delorme serial emulator with xport3 ver 11/02/06 program works good now Everytime even form hibernation.

i too am having this issue with it connecting but not showing the sats (0/0) but the lat and long tick away but the gps does not show the car moving.

xport has been a failed on my system. i will try xport3 ver 11/02/06, just need to find it.

Hey guys, if you have problem with RR embedded and/or not showing map, try disable transition effect to see what happen.
