    Finally, Codec for MPC

I searched to see if someone posted a solution, but did not find one for my problem. This has been bugging me for weeks, and I finally got it fixed.

Sorry in advance if this was already posted.

My problem was with choppy video uning MPC and I couldn't get Winamp to embed properly.

I tried many codecs and none fixed my problem with MPC.

This one finally worked and the video is fine.

Many people have said that it is because of the processor speed. My laptop is running at an amazing 700MHZ with 512 MB Ram, so it was definately a codec issue not a speed issue.

I removed any previously installed codecs and installed
K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 1.53 and used Profile 4: Minimalistic. I have yet to see if this messes anything else up, but my video is finally working.

Glad to hear you sussed it.Yeah, its been covered before many times, its a bit of a pain.

The codec pack you use did nothing for my install but i found 1 called the CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack) codec pack and the results have been perfect.

Since i installed it i've had no codec problems of any kind.

If you guys would do a little bit of research before you just install a codec back and actually take the time to install individual codec for the types of media you're trying to play, you wouldn't have had any problems to begin with.

    NRG,its not rocket science.
I needed some different codecs so i got em and it works.

    Anything constructive to add??

So if you've got choppy video, follow NRG's advice and do your research, and when your done messing about download CCCP to fix the problem.

Some times you don't need to know how it works just knowing that it DOES work is enough

FYI : In my experience sometimes problems arise from not knowing how something works, and with codecs this is also true.

Most of the problems with codecs arise when you install many different codecs that can do the same decoding with different success i might add, then the player has to select between them, this is usually what causes the problem. BSPlayer as an example has the ability to let you choose what codec of the installed base to use with specific file types.

Thats where CCCP took the guess work out for me,it comes with its own version of MPC and all the required codecs,no duplicates.
Mpc also has the ability to let you overide any given codec with the 1 of your choice,so if you want to use PowerDvd's codec for Dvd playback you can set it as the prefered codec.

I am glad that you all got the right codecs installed. The thing is, there are a million posts and I couldn't find none of them that told about a codec that worked. The thing is, if you ask a question, someone will get offended and tell you to search better. I have more things to do than search for the perfect reply and I posted this message after installing 4 codec packs that didn't work. If you have a codec pack that works, great for you, but why post to this thread. This is why it is so hard to find anything on this forum. You have to dig through 100 b.s. posts to get to one good one. My advice, next time you post something ask yourself, "Is this going to help anyone or just waste someone's time?"
