    Hauppauge WinTV USB2

Has anyone gotten this TV-only device (WinTV-USB2) to work with RR using any of the available components?

All I get is a blank screen when I try to use it with the support shipped with the latest RR.

Device works fine with the WinTV2000 program shipped with the device and I can get that program running as either an app or via SB without new skins.

Was planning to integrate WinTV2000 with SB but there seems to be an issue with SB related to .png files and how they are created/edited.

    Regards,
    Jim

I've gotten the WinTV USB2 to work as described in the FAQ with the exception of audio.

    A couple of questions,

    1. does the TV audio flow down the usb cable or must I use a separate audio cable from the device audio-out to a line-in on the PC?

    2. in either case, what do I have to set where for this to work? I just can't seem to find the right combination.

    Regards,
    Jim

the audio comes from the same usb cable. I dont have anything connected to the front ports of the WinTV PVR.

In the plugin settings, under the audio tab i have these set.

Connection = "digital, played by Direct Show"

Audio source = "Hauppauge WinTV PVR2 USB2 Enc..." (greyed out)

Renderer = pick your sound card here if you have multiple sound cards.

    Liquid_smoke,

Many thanks. WinTV works just fine.

BTW, is there a way to allow WinTV under RR to just look at each available channel without using the presets.

We travel alot and it would be nice to just turn the tv on and look through the channels like on a real TV.

I appreciate that I haven't research this enough but I have more pressing matters vis-a-vis the car PC.

    Regards,
    Jim

i dont think so, the use of the presets is how the plugin works with winamp.

    What version of winamp plugin?

May I ask which version of the Winamp plugin your using? I had the hauppauge usb2 device working a few months ago. Since then, I fried a mobo and installed a different one. Reloaded XP (new HAL) and got the latest winamp plugin for tv, but I keep getting errors. Check out WinTV PVR 2 USB "graph cannot connect" problem. HELP!for the exact issue.

It has to use presets, but there is a creative way around it. You will need to hook it up to your cable network directly (Not through a set top box), and have it scan and find each channel. This will get you from 2 - 12 at least. As far as UHF, thats another story.

I have Direct TV, and just hooked it up to my laptop, and went to a friends house that has cable to create the presets
