Visualization and startup problems with roadrunner

    Hi again everyone,
I'm using Roadrunner/bluedevil/standard windows xp, and I'm having issues with roadrunner. Here they are:

1st, when switching screens, the visualization (milk drop) gets hid behind roadrunner and doesn't return until I push a button on the player screen. After I do that, I can switch b/w any screens I want and the visualization will come back with no problem when going back into the player skin until I stop then restart the visualization again.

2nd, when I forget to turn off the visualization in roadrunner and hibernate upon ignition turn off, roadrunner locks up (but music continues to play and the mouse works) for about 5 minutes upon resume after the ignition has been engaged and windows comes out of hibernation. I can do nothing to roadrunner during this period, but I will eventually unfreeze if I wait. It only happens when I forget to turn off the visual, Milkdrop.

What version of winamp are you running. I was running the current version of winamp and had trouble with RR locking up periodically when loading it. I regressed back to the 2.9 on Guino's site and no problems sense.

    Visulizations in Road RUnner

It sounds like Milkdrop is not configured completely for use with Road RUnner. Did you select that as the Visualization in RoadRunner config? I am also using the Blue Devil skin (Duh! ) and have not seen this happen. If I start the visu, it will stay in place, if I go to another screen, and return to the player, it is still running and embed correctly.

On the 2nd part, I can offer no help there, as I do complete shutdown and restart with my CarPC.

Tried several settings in milkdrop, no luck. I just tried AVS, and it works correctly. It seems to do the same thing on both my computers. I'm going to search the forum again now that I know it is primarily a milkdrop issue. Thanks! Good job on the equalizers. Just tried them out today.

Not the same problem, but it seems to have fixed my issue. I'll test it with the hibernation later.

OK, it fixed the screen switching problem where it wouldn't reload the vis upon switching screens, but not the hibernation problem in my car. It still locks up when coming out of hibernation. Trying to search again to see if I missed something in the forums.

You should try two things: set the visualization to OTHER in RRConfig and type in: milkdro (without the P), then put this in your exectbl:

    "ONSUSPED","CLOSEWINDOW;Milkdrop"

this *should* close the vis before hibernating for you, though just doing the first change may already help.

I did the milkdro thing combined with other (I found a post you wrote in another article), but have not yet tried the other. I'll try it this week. Thanks!

    "onsusped"? or "onsuspend" ??

also, if you're changing the window name of milkdrop to "milkdro" in the rr.ini, shouldnt you put that after the "closewindow"?

just so im covering my bases, i added all 4 possibilities to my exectbl:

    "ONSUSPED","CLOSEWINDOW;Milkdrop"
    "ONSUSPED","CLOSEWINDOW;Milkdro"
    "ONSUSPEND","CLOSEWINDOW;Milkdrop"
    "ONSUSPEND","CLOSEWINDOW;Milkdro"

because i was having the occasional freezes on resume from hibernate. i dont know which line is the correct but it seems to have worked in closing milkdrop upon hibernate. when i pop back in to rr after hibernate, milkdrop shows the song title, which of course it only does when you first start it, so im hoping those winamp/milkdrop freeze days are over which wouldnt be too bad considering ive only been using RR a week now
