    Master Volume vs mixer volumes

    I need to adjust master volume and the individual mixer volumes separately using the setvol;<mixer-line>;<percent> and the vol{=|-} commands from an AutoIt script.

    My problem is that I can't seem to de-couple the master volume from one or more of the mixer volumes. Which ones are coupled with the master volume seems to be dependent on which mastermap selection I choose.

    I have tried several mastemap selections to no avail.

    Is there a "no lines" mastermap selection?

    Is there a way to allow for controlling the mixer volumes and the master volume individually with out one setting affecting any other one?

    Regards,
    Jim

    if you set it to just "Master" it should not be tied in to any audio line. If you card doesn't have that, then it's a feature lacking on your card. If you do have it and it still ties in to the Wave volume, then you should try switching the Output plugin in winamp.

    I apologize for being incomplete in my description of the problem.

    First, mastermap is set to Master Volume.

    Here are some test results which I can't explain. I am using AutoIt to send commands to RR. My test program is built off of those provided with the source distro of RR specifically, Send.au3 and Receive.au3.

    On the RR Mixer screen using the sliders I set the following Mixer values:

    Wave=70 Line=50 Cd=30 Aux=75 and set the Master Volume to 100 in the Master Section

    I send the command "Setvol;Wave;40" and get the following results:

    Wave=40 Line=100 Cd=100 Aux=75 and Master Volume=100

    I now reset the Mixer values to the original and send the command "Setvol;Line;20" and get the following results:

    Wave=70 Line=20 Cd=20 Aux=75 and Master Volume=20

    The values for the lines were requested using:

    "Request;RRInterface;VOL:Wave||Request;RRInterface ;VOL:Line||Request;RRInterface;VOL:CD||Request;RRI nterface;VOL:Aux||Request;RRInterface;VOLUME".

    What was even more curious is that in each test NONE of the Mixer screen volumes registered the values returned Except Master Volume which was correct.

    I also noted that the ":" worked in "VOL:xxx" but "VOL;xxx" did not in the Request.

    However, on the Laptop itself I can individually adjust each of the lines without any tie to the Master volume so I believe it is not the card. I guess I could manipulate those directly if need be.

    If you would prefer I will post this to the bug list.

    Regards,
    Jim

    guino,

    I found the problem.

    Contrary to what the label on the Mixer screen is (Line), the actual name is "Line In". When I changed to that name all worked as expected. I discovered this when I looked at debug.txt and saw the names put into the mixerstate array.

    The name issue was compounded by the fact that the modMixer.bas function "IDXName" returns a 0 (zero) if there is no name match in the search of the mixerstate array. Since zero is the index of the Master volume, it is set to the specified value instead of the mis-named mixer line.

    Sorry for the trouble.

    Regards,
    Jim

    that is true, RR automatically reverts an invalid line volume into the master line (0).
