I have just changed my settings.ini to the right comport. Maybe you also have to change the phonemode in settings.ini depending on what phone you have.
When I right click on the BT icon in my start menu, and then select “Advanced Configuration” It pulls up the advanced configuration screen. On the “Local Services” tab I find the “Audio Gateway”. There’s a column for “Startup” and I can change this feature by highlighting the "Audio Gateway" service and then selecting the “Properties” button. From here an option is available for “Startup Automatically”.
My question is whether or not something needs to be done in the INI file to work with the Audio Gateway?

Hi again,
A year olderand not a bit smarter
.... I still can't figure out how wingnut75 and JohnWPB got thier Verizon phones to work (I'm assuming wingnut75 is a verizon user). I have a LG9800, but I am assuming (you know what those do) that both phones are CDMA. However, when I try and use a usb connection all FreeFone does is "waiting for connection". I did edit the settings.ini by changing the port to the port reported by Device Manager for the LG usb modem. Changing it to the port used by bluetooth gives the same results -- so could someone enlighten me on what gives?

Just for clarification, I am not using Verizon, Cingular....Errr...AT&T for service. I am using a Moto Razr V3, and due to the limitation of a single BT connection, am only using it for Caller ID on the screen, as I have a Parrot Handsfree wired into the car stereo for audio, with a mic above the sunvisor.

John, if I read this well, you're saying that you have a BT connection from your V3 to the PC to get the caller ID on the screen and a handfree for sound and mic.
I guess the handfree is actually plugged in the phone 'cos if it's BT then that makes it 2 BT connection wich (from what I know) is impossible...right?!?!?
Is it a practical set up to use in a car?
BTW, what kind of handfree do you use with your V3?

I'm just taking a wild guess this wont work with the treo 700WX? (Windows mobile 5.0)?
For some reason I still can't get a connection.
I've got a Cingular 8125 (GSM) phone. When I connect to my PC, via BT, and plug a mic in, I can recieve phone calls and talk to others via the mic, without FreeFone running. I'm guessing this is because of the BT "Voice Gateway".
I've checked the BT COM port and it's set to COM 9 on the PC. I've looked at the Hardward settings for COM 9 but there aren't any Baud rate setting for this port on the PC. Is this set to "Autodetect" for the baud rate?
Currently when ever I try to launch FreeFone, I get the message "Trying to connect, please wait"
I've got the following settings in the "SETTINGS.INI" file:
ComPort=9
ComSpeed=9600
Debug=False
autoclose=false
Answer=ATA
Hangup=AT+CHUP
Dial=ATD***;
Phonemode=2 (should this be set to 1? wouldn't flow control be software based and not hardware since there isn't a physical connection for DTR or RTS?)
usephonebook=false

getting back to my nokia 9300i, connecting the phone via bluetooth is flawless so far. bluetooth uses the DUN connection with the phone. dialling manually and receiving phone calls work. BUT freefone cant or does not load the phone and sim contacts, dialled, received, missed calls dont work either. anybody experience this? thanks
