I still cant seem to get the FreeFone to work. It seems like I am missing something or doing something wrong. Right now my goal is to make freefone to work as standalone then go to phase 2 and use it with RR

I have a Kensington USB bluetooth and LG VX9400 cellphone. They are both paired. I can see my computer name in my cellphone and when I open "My Bluetooth Places\Entire Bluetooth Neighborhood" on the computer and look for bluetooth device I can see my cellphone so I know they are paired. I used the transfer option in bluetooth and transfered pics back and forth. So the link is their.

From the "Device Manager, I found that the Bluetooth comport is 4 so thats what I am using.

Is that the way to go about or I need to do something else. Their are other optiong in the "My Bluetooth Places\Entire Bluetooth Neighborhood" other than transfer, dont know them top of my head

    Thanks in advance

make sure the bluetooth software is not connected to the phone in any way ie my bluetooth place.
freefone won t share, and once you run freefone it will look for the port you set in the ini file.
    hope this helps.

Huss, if I would look in "my bluetooth places", and see my phone listed, do I remove the phone from the list? Or change it so it doesn't connect to the phone?

I tried both ways phone connected/paired and not paired. I even disabled the phone too and nothing happens. I click on Freefone icon in the standalone folder and all i get trying to connect.

I know I have the comport correct because the Device Manager shows the Bluetooth is connected to it. I tried in the *.ini file mode = 2 and mode = 3. Also nothing. It seems I am missing something else

you need to make sure that when you switch on the pc that it dose not connect to your phone in any way,
you could try uninstalling your bluetooth software and just use windows driver to connent the phone, this is how i use freefone with no probs...

The best thing you can do is set debug=true in settings.ini and see what (if anything) is coming as responses from the phone. As long as you have a working port to talk to your phone, chances are good it will work with most newer phones.

Can it be controlled (dial numbers, answer/hangup phone) as well as have audio through one bluetooth connection?

If i look in my BT menu and click on my phone and see properties, i can see more than one comport connected. One incoming, one outgoing and one serial port connection.
Are you sure you have tried the right comport?
With my nokia 6310i it works perfect, only thing is i cannot get the audio to work using Freephone. But i do see my contact list and i can receive and make phonecalls.

My advice, check the comports that you have and test them.

When I loaded the BT software, it set up a blue tooth comport on com 8. This was in the device manager whether the BT was connected or not. However when I connected the BT to my computer, it connected through com 9 so don't believe what the device manager says. If you want to know what com port the BT will use when you connect, go to the Bluetooth Serial Port properties window from My Bluetooth Places and there will be a drop down box with a com port number (don't know why it's drop down because it only lets me select the com port it gives me). Once I changes the freefone setup.ini settings to com 9 instead of com 8, the phone and computer communicated. I have many other problems with freefone now that it connects but that should at least get you past the connecting stage. Good luck.

I looked into the phone properties through the BT Menu, all I see is General and Authorization. I dont have any thing related to comports

    Chuckbyu
I checked the bluetooth comport the way you suggested and it also shows com4 and I cant change it from the drop menu.

All this and still cant connect..... Outside Freefone I have total visibility between the PC and phone i can transfer pics, messages.

Do i need to put the freefone standalone folder in a certain directory, right now its on my desktop.

    Anymore suggestions

Could my phone not be compatible with freefone. Can someone send me the setting.ini just want to make sure I am not missing anything within the file.

    Thanks for all your help
