    Guino,

For my knowledge, if there is something wrong with the serial port, how am I able outside the Freefone to transfer data (pics, messages) back and forth between the Phone and the PC with no problems. So how the thing is working

And how do i configure the phone itself to connect that serial port to phone/modem. i thought I was doing that by connecting through the Bluetooth.

There is an option to connect through DialUp in the Bluetooth is that what you are referring too

    Thanks

Most phones will transfer files/information and so on using other software (or just windows even), that is, WITHOUT using the SPP profile. How to configure the SPP profile, what it will do, or even if exists at all, is entirely up to your phone. I can transfer files/info with my Nokia E71, view/edit contacts, use to browse the internet and so on, but it does NOT have a SPP profile. My HTC 8525 only has SPP because I installed some software on it and even when I connect to SPP all it does is allow an application ON THE PHONE connect to an application on the PC through the serial port, so it does absolutely nothing for using freefone. The DUN (Dial-Up Network=DUN) profile creates a serial port which you can TRY to use, but then again, on my E71 it PARTIALLY works (no phonebooks support), and on my 8525 almost nothing works at all.

    Hey Everyone -

Just because this thread doesn't have enough success stories I thought I'd post mine. Using RR 10/2008 release and freefone 1.4 with my Nokia 6263 and a kensington bluetooth dongle. I'm using the bluetooth serial port for interaction with my phone. The only funny thing I had to do was to follow the instructions in this thread to enable callerID info. It's working like a charm now!

I am only using this for call control and info, I'm using my bluetooth handsfree paired directly to the phone for the actual voice since I don't want to deal with echo.

So you can execute total control of this phone from the carputer with a bluetooth connection? IE, dial phone numbers, hang up the phone, browse through the phone book, see who is calling, etc?
Check out my GMC Savana worklog.

Remaining tasks to facilitate vanputer installation codename "Enterprise":
    - Edit skin to liking.
    - Get compatible phone for mobilephone.net.
    - Facilitate HVAC control.

More or less. A couple of things don't work right like viewing missed calls, but it does pretty much everything i want it to. Now my only problem is sometimes the bluetooth serial connection doesn't auto connect on resume from hibernate but that's not freefone's issue.

What do you think you could attribute the malfunctions to?
