    dualmon and powerdvd

I read about someone else having this problem but can't seem to find the thread again after like 100 searches....

For some reason when I'm watching a dvd and I leave to go to any other screen the dvd continues to play...that's great. However, when I return to the dvd screen the PowerDVD control panel appears at the top of the screen and I have to minimize it to get it to go away. If I don't minimize it and exit the screen again it keeps itself on top of RR until I minimize it. I tried just about everything I can think of and just about every setting in PowerDVD itself to make it not appear but no luck. It only seems to do that while using dualmon. Any ideas? Thanks in advance....

On another side note PowerDVD doesn't close with RR while using dualmon. Not that big a deal but worth noting for the dualmon experts out there.

I cant really help you with your specific problem but I can tell you that dualmon is a function that is hard to get to work right. I use it to make the musicvideos play(the music and not the video) while Im on the mainmenu. Its good for that so that you dont get disturbed while driving. I have tried different versions of the rr.exe and with different success. It seems like this function isnt supported or updated by the programmers of RR which is a shame. I guess mp3 will be replaced by musicvideos in the future and I hope this function will have better support.

Thanks for the reply. I too have tried different verisons of RR with no success just different problems. I've heard of people getting dualmon to work fluidly especially with mpc but even that doesn't work for me. I guess I'll just keep trying and maybe I'll get lucky somehow. I did get it to work well by deleting my RR ini and starting from scratch but within a couple minutes of testing it eventually went back to the way it is now with PowerDVD insisting on putting that stupid control panel up on the screen.

The bummer for me is I use an external app for VST sound processing and it has its own skin so if I want to tune the audio a bit I have to exit the DVD skin and that's where my problem lies. Well, back to trial and error

Thanks Matrix, but I read the FAQ and followed word for word and still can't get it to work properly. Dualmon seems to be doing it's job properly but my problems arise when returning to the DVD screen. If I use the internal player the "controls" popup wont show after returning to the DVD screen forcing me to close out of mpc by right clicking and closing. If I use Power DVD then the same problem described in my first post witll happen. It's a shame because I'd like to be able to switch over to my "EQ" skin and adjust the settings on the fly but as soon as I return to DVD it starts acting goofy. Right now I've accepted that I'll have to adjust any audio settings before I play a DVD but man...I wish I could figure this out. I might try to make a popup window inside the DVD screen next and see if I can get that to accept an application on top of the DVD window. Don't know if it'll work but it seems to be my only option at the moment.

It's probably the skin you are using and the combination of video auto hide. I never like the auto hide feature which sometime make you stuck on full screen video.
Set video auto hide to false (I forgot exact word) and try to use CFX skin. That the one I use and basically has no problem. Most skin use full screen for the player and autohide the control panel. This particular skin use a portion of it for control panel so you can use it with auto hide off. I also post a modified version of that skin as well (CFX Rework is the name).

Thanks Matrix, I'll give CFX a shot. I just put so much work into modding the BMW skin for my Acura that I hate to get involved with Photoshop again
but I want it to work and that's the important part. I do like the built in CD capabilities that I never fully implemented into my skin mostly out of laziness.

You don't have to use the skin I mentioned. Just download it and see if you still have problem.
    The key point is this.
    - Disable autohide (videoautohide=false)
    - modify video_player.skin and associate graphic to show control panel full time and a manual full screen button to activate full screen video.

I see what you're saying. I think I might have tried disabling the autohide feature with no success. But the auto full screen might be messing with it too. If I was to make a button to make the player go full screen then how would I get back out of full screen to see the controls? Would double clicking do it? I'll give it a shot. Thanks again.
