Nothing has changed with video support for a long time in RR.. the issue you're describing with the blanking video is in most cases because of the transitions. Add this to video_player.skin (right above the END line):

/EFFECT-1

See if that helps... Now the DVD freezing is normally an issue with CPU load (maybe slow hardware) and/or configuration... using a hardware accelerated DVD player helps (WinDVD/PowerDVD).

Its not the DVD thats freezing but the videos (playing AVI's)

I'll roll back to the old version to see if it clears it.

If it's freezing while playing AVIs, most likely you've got some software and/or hardware running on the background causing that... This could be even a serial port no longer available or in a different port setting than what you set on your applications.

solved the video freezing problem, i had screen transition set to fade, when i disabled it video palys smoothly, however i have another issue, when i deselect the "built in player" i get wierd results in the video player, it plays my mp3's/wma and i cant select a screen size.

Can anybody advise me on why i cant seem to load Media Player Classic when selecting dvd from RR?

I can open MPC outside of RR, and it plays my DVD's great, but when i select DVD from RR, it autohides RR and then just displays my desktop but with no icons or start menu?

It seems as if RR isnt loading MPC? Is this a RR issue or maybe a Skin issue? Im using simplistique 2 if that helps?

1-Check the path to MPC
2-Check that you can play standard videos in RR
3-Check the built-in DVD player option in RR Config
4-Try a different skin (BMV2 for instance)
5-Make sure the skin is set to run the "DVD" command and not something else meant for WinDVD/PowerDVD

1) I copied the path set in rrconfig, and pasted into RUN (in the start menu), and it loaded instantly.
2) I have downloaded some standard videos and play fine in the video option in RR
3)Checked
4) I tried BMV2 previously, and that was the same
5) This is where im unsure? in the exectbl folder in simplistique it says:

"EXDVD","Load;External_DVD.skin"

Dont know if this is correct? And this is what my rr.ini looks like:

EDIT: I just tried ultimate skin, and it worked, however it changes the screen resolution. The frontend looks like its zoomed in by 300%, but then the fullscreen kicks in, and RR minimises.

You need to use the "DVD" command instead of whatever command is in the .skin file inside the skin folder.. who knows what's in there.. but it most definitely isn't the DVD command.. if you try the BMV2 skin for instance, it should work as the DVD command is the default one.
