Not sure who's at fault for this video aspect ratio issue..

Is it just me or have both XviD and DivX codecs seem to gone a little overzealous lately ? Both of these codecs will simply not size up to the playback frame set and instead, simply adjust the video to the window given still keeping what it "thinks" is the correct aspect ratio for the video... The result is simple.. most of the zoom sizes in the built-in video player are rendered useless... I know there's nothing wrong with the code because MPG files still play just fine in the correct zoom sizes, so I'm wondering when did this start to happen.. or is this an isolated case on my development machine... ?

Anybody else experiencing this issue ?

Pan & Scan -VS- Aspect Ratio?

That is interesting. I have not used the aspect ratio's in a while, so never noticed it.

I took a Xvid movie, paused it. When I try different aspect ratio's, it is not stretching, but simply cropping off the top/bottom/left/right ect. Similar to the typical "Pan & Scant" (This movie has been modified to fir your screen),

I do not know when this started, but I am definitely duplicating what you are seeing here.

Ok, so I looked into it a little deeper.. and from what I tested DIVX 6.0 still played the files correctly with the aspect ratio controlled solely by RR. So anywhere from AFTER version 6, to version 6.6 this has got broken in the DivX codec itself. Similarly, I remember it working with older versions of the XviD codec and now it also is forcing aspect ratio of videos on its later versions of the codec. However, I have played with the latest versions FFDShow here and I'm going to post a FAQ with settings shortly for it to work well with RR.

    EDIT: The FAQ is HERE
