Looks like your transitions are set correctly. No need to change the transition time.

and yes Usedx=false for disabling Ilists.

    Bah!

I give up. I am going to order a Intel D945GCLF2 Little Falls 2 Mainboard and plop that in my case.

If it makes a huge difference I guess we should put a note in the FAQ or a DFX guide that there may be issues with some mainboards running the skin. Cause I have about exhausted all other options in controlling the CPU load.

I have the MII10000 w/1GB of Ram and 2 HDs (one for OS and one for apps) running DFX4.0 with Stationary logo. I get between 20-30% with nothing going and with music 35% (no visualization);thats what shows on the screen. When I go to Task Manager it is 20% without music and 25% with music. I also have tried a Geforce FX5500 video card in hopes of reducing the CPU load but it did not make a difference at all. I have disabled, set to manual many services to get to this point. I am using ilists but not transitions. I have downloaded all of the latest drivers, updated bios, did the suggestion things to speed up RoadRunner along with the latest Flash (v10).

One thing that helped me was I turned off the Gamma slider option in the exectbl.ini in DFX4.0. This did help with the CPU load.

I would suggest going to Task Manager to see what it says on the load for RoadRunner and other services; to see spikes.

I know my board has limitations so I will look at upgrading later. One of the main reasons I got this board was for the PCMCIA slot but I will look at some of the newer boards suggested on the forum.
    Gee

Thanks for the info. I've done the comparison in task manager too, its pretty spot on for me.

How did you turn off the gamma slider?

I saw this in the exectbl.ini

    "GammaSlider","RUNQ;$SkinPath$Scripts\GammaSlider\ GammaSlider.exe"

Did you just delete it, or comment it out?

There is alot of info in there, I just don't know how to read it all or what it does.

    Thanks,

I found it. It did not make much of a difference, plus I love the ability to adjust the brightness for nighttime driving so I won't be disabling that. But I appreciate the suggestion.

My new mobo should be here soon and I can rebuild my system and see how it performs at that point.

Well, I got the New Dual Core ATOM Little Falls2 in the mail.

However, the motherboard has a BTX connector on it, and I have the M2-ATX - so I needed to order an adapter from logic supply.

Also - I am headed to Oahu till Dec 5th this weekend, so I may be putting this on hold for a while depending on how soon I get the adapter.

I'll post more info when I have it.

I have been following this thread since day one, as I just do not understand the CPU usage. I have also started to disable all sorts of stuff, and see if I can find anything myself, and nothing so far.....

Just a small note A little bird told me you may no longer need the GammaSlider.exe running in the tray. This could be a feature that makes it directly into RR in a future release.

I don't understand it either John. I posted some videos showing my CPU being pegged at 100%.

Anyway, I'm in town till friday - then off to Oahu for some bodyboarding till Dec 5th.

** removed some stuff about me thinking i needed at special BTX adapter with this board - you dont need it afterall***

Ok, well Window seems to boot much faster, I havent installed RR yet since I was working on my Molded in Dash/Touchscreen housing this weekend and yesterday since I was off ( The dash radio trim/bezel was promptly run over and crushed to pieces yesterday right as I finished painting it - weeks of work down the drain - it was finished too and looked great but now its gone... sigh).

But I have a slight Issue now, Windows does not shut down.

When I restart or shutdown my PC it hangs on "saving your settings" . I get no response from Ctrl+Alt+Del and my mouse does not work. I have to manually power it off - so I'm not sure what is going on now.

Maybe a hardware issue? I am using Sp3.

Does anyone have any ideas on that? I guess its not a huge problem, cause it will shutdown in the car - but I just noticed this yesterday when I was setting up my new system.
