Lockup with screen corruption

This has been a problem for a while now, since it was RoadRunner, but it seems to be happening more often.

2. Skin Being used (Best to have tested with more than one skin, esp the Default : Carwings)

3. Full description of problem including any steps taken by yourself to resolve it.

Only when running RR I get screen corruption and the machine locks up. See photo. I used no front end and things worked fine (but what a pain in the ***). This happens after a random time running RR. Happens after a full boot or a resume. Happens wether I've got GPS running or not, Sirius and HD Radio hooked up or not. It'll happen in whichever subsystem/program I'm using. (WinAmp, Sirius, Movies..) It's okay when it happens in Sirius because, even though I can no longer change channels nor volume, the sound buffer doesn't loop and annoy the crap out of me until I can pull over and turn the car off 'til the powersupply times out and cuts power.

i doubt this has anything to do specifically with RR. It looks like a hardware/driver issue relating to your video card.

Could be the screen or video card doesn't like having the gamma settings changed.

Well, I tend to agree with that in spirit... The issue, though, is that it only happens while RR is running.

That's possible, but it's not happening when I change it manually with the slider in Carwing and it seems to happen randomly at all times of the day.

the slider is, DIMMER...doesnt do anything with video card settings
like gamma does...

but that sure does look like HW issue

just disable gamma, in rrconfig

So, disabling gamma didn't do anything, but if I keep it minimized I don't get the lock up. I'm guessing it's a GDI issue, possibly. Haven't had time to look into the config to see what options I have.

This could be an issue with DirectX, GDI+ and/or video drivers/memory, though I have never seen anything like it. I would suggest to check the DirectX version and checking if there's a newer video driver available for you to install. Other than that you can try to set fastmode=0 and usedx=false in RR.INI and see if it does it or not (it will disable ilists/gdi+/directx).
