New version errors on video

I've just upgraded my RR to the 19th, and when I load the Video skin I get a Please tell microsoft about this problem box, Debug Send Error Report, Don'tSend. However I have tried it in a previous version and it works great. I tried to run it from the source, but sadly I dont have the mappoint.ocx installed so the source wont run. In debugmode its listing this

I have tried unticking 'use internal video player' and it then works fine.
I have uploaded a zip of the video.skin bits incase they might come in handy. If you want me to test anything just msn me

EDIT: I've tried it and found one little issue (didn't happen all the time)... added a little prevention:

what I also notice was that you were not yet clipping the video area... and that could cause issues (trying to place a MCI video on a covered screen area -- depends on lots of factors).

Also, I fixed your video position slider (Wrong click area).

If you still get the error and wish to run it in VB, simply ignore the error loading mappoing.ocx, and you should be ok as long as you don't go in the Mappoint screen while in VB.

PS: One thing I would really to see is the Mute Button highlight/push or do something to "show" that mute is on. Other than that, this is looking awesome, and the skin may end up lighter in memory than normal skins due to reduced amount of graphics..

cheers m8, yep noticed the click area whilst I was playing some more with the skin :-) didnt know you also needed to clip the area.. thanks for that. I will have a go at adding a mute indicator, got afew ideas, but it would be that a checker would have to check 10 times a second or something to see if the variable is on, unsure what effect this will have on the speed.

I've notice that in flash, it's not how fast you check the variables that slows it down.. the constant update of screen objects/labels is what does slow it down A LOT! .. what I'd suggest you do is to have your timer/loop to check the variables, compare the last state (or current text in the label) against the new value and update them ONLY if they change... this is what I do in RR but to prevent flickering... there are no easy ways to create an event in Flash from VB (without using variables) so we're better off doing it all in flash.
