    Album Art Woes

    Hello All,

I am having some issues and was hoping somebody could help.

First of all, Album Art. I posted this question in another thread also and I have tried their suggestions. I made sure the folder.jpg file is located in the root folder and sub directories of a particular album. I made sure that the file is unhidden, as windows hides automatically. Streetdeck and Windows media player displays the art without any problems. I made sure the music directory is correct in the RR Config. But even, after all this, I still do not see the art in the skin. I also tried other skins and same issue. Maybe its a issue with RR in general. But I do not know what else to look for, everything seems normal.

Can anyone please give me a few suggestions. I forgot my other question at the moment, will ask later.

    Thanks

    Album Art

It sounds like you have everything set correctly. It is definately not a Road Runner problem in general. The album art works fine here in the DigitalFX skin, and the other skins I have tried, so its a matter of narrowing it down.

You have the jpg's in the right place, you have unhidden them, so only one other thing comes to mind.

Open the Road Runner Config utility, and click on the music tab. Where it says "Album Cover File" make sure the box contains *.jpg

Thats the only thing I can possibly think of at the moment, as it does work in other programs, so we know the images are in the right place.

    Still having issues

Well I have checked to make sure album cover files is set to *.jpg and I have double checked everything else also.

I think I will completely remove my music collection, it was originally created using MusicMatch. I will try ripping a album using winamp and then windows media and see what happens.

I dont think that should make a difference, but who knows.

If anyone has any other suggestions meanwhile, please let me know.

    Thanks

Do you have actual jpegs for the album in the album folder?
It sounds like your trying to see the embedded art that WMP and StreetDeck (uses skinned WMP) show.

In order to display the embedded art in RR you need to download and install the plugin found in this thread = Embbeded Mp3 Art Plugin

    How do I install

Thanks for the info, but how do I install the plugin?

    I have downloaded it.

    Here are the instructions:

    "INSTALL
    -------

1-Copy MP3ART.DLL to install location (of your choice -- DO NOT MOVE IT AFTER STEP 2!)
    2-Regsvr32 MP3ART.DLL
    3-Add: X,Mp3Art to menu.skin of desired skin"

So I understand step 1, according to that, lets say I copy the dll file to the RR directory, but then what do I do in step 2 and 3?

Is "Regsvr32" some type of code that I have to input somewhere?
And then step 3 says to add. I am assuming that means to open menu.skin file in say notepad and add it there. So do I type in the following w/o quotations? "X,mp3art" ? If so, is that at the end of the whole code right before end?

Sorry for the specific questions, but I am not a programmer.

    Any info would help thanks

Hi,to be honest i don't use this plugin however it should be easy to install.

To register the DLL you need to run Regsvr32 (this is a windows app)
Move your DLL to where you want it (RR's folder or system 32)

Now open the start menu and select the RUN box.

To install the file, type: regsvr32 MP3ART.DLL and then hit enter and you should get a confimation that the DLL has been registered.

If you have any trouble with this see this link = http://www.free-codecs.com/guides/Ho...d_AX_files.htm

Guino already explains the 3 steps pretty well in this thread = Embbeded Mp3 Art Plugin

PLEASE NOTE: What isn't clear in guino's post is this part = "X,Mp3Art to menu.skin of desired skin"

What he should of said is add "X,Mp3Art" to the skin that you want to see the art on,this is more likely to be audioplayer.skin than menu.skin.

    NO, DON'T do that.

open the MENU.SKIN file, and towards the top, on a blank line put:
    Code:
    "X,Mp3Art
This is the trigger for Road Runner to load the plugin when a skin loads. As the first screen that loads when RR loads, is the MENU.skin file this was a likely choice for Road Runner to look for any helper skins. ALL plugins should ALWAYS be placed in the Menu.skin file.
